Did you know that the Okavango Delta in Botswana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the largest inland deltas in the world and a haven for an incredible diversity of wildlife? Originating deep in Angola, the Okavango River’s journey through the African Rift Valley System has shaped this remarkable delta with its intricate network of waterways, swamps, flooded grasslands, and floodplains.

The Okavango River is the third largest in Southern Africa and stretches over 1,500 kilometers. Its flow creates a vast, low-gradient alluvial fan in northwestern Botswana. The delta encompasses permanent swamps covering around 600,000 hectares, expanding to 1.2 million hectares during the seasonal floods. This unique ecosystem attracts a multitude of wildlife, making Botswana one of the premier safari destinations in the world.

Etosha means Great White Place due to the park enormous 4,730 sq km (1,830 sq miles) salt pan. During winter time all the animals visit the waterhole at Okaukueko, the main camp. Hundreds of animals of all species drinks here 24/7. You don’t even have to drive to find them. Simply sit on the pavilion biilt around the waterhole to observe them!
