Amarula has passed on. He was the best known elephant in Pilanesberg and quite well known worldwide with his temper and grumpiness and for crushing cars when they get too close or in his way.

I have always known him as the Gentle Giant when coming across him in Pilanesberg. He has always been one of the favorites to look out for while doing a tour and mutual respect was always given and received.

Amarula was brought to Pilanesberg in 1998, he was one of 6 bull elephants relocated to the park to bring the young bulls under control. He was the oldest of the bulls brought to the park and now there is only Nkemele that remains of the original 6.

We will sorely miss you big friend.
RIP Gentle Giant

It has been a very tough couple of years but WE ARE BACK!!!!!

After our page being blocked and fighting to get up and running again as well as Covid happening, it has been a struggle but in the end we fought through it all to survive and are ready for new adventures.

We hope that you will enjoy our posts again and expect new things to come.

On Monday the 17th of January I took a very special client to Pilanesberg for the day. We left very early in the morning to ensure that we got to the park as the gates opened and we were not disappointed. It turned out to be a fantastic day with sightings sightings of Elephants, Brown hyena pups at their den, 3 lionesses and a young leopard on the road.

So due to unknown reasons, our page was blocked and closed down and after many emails and a long waiting time, Heart of the Wild Tours is back again and we have to start all over again with our new page.

So to kick things off, here is our first post with some amazing and close friends who would be our guests for the day. It was a beautiful day but sadly we simply could not find any of the cats.
