Mr and Mrs Mariner travelled with us recently, and kindly shared some truly wonderful shots and had this to say about their safari😀


"It is difficult to find the correct superlatives!

Suffice it to say that we have had a brilliant trip. Everything worked out exactly as planned – which is surely attributable to your planning etc on our behalf. Based on my own prior experience of travelling in Africa this invariably is not always the case!!

We particularly enjoyed Kings Camp in the Kruger, where the service, facilities etc, aside of course from game viewings, were superb.

🐘You may possibly recollect what largely swayed me in choosing Kings Camp was the presence of the hide at water level.

The two elephant piccies were in fact taken by Pam on her mobile. We happened to be having lunch at the time when this herd of elephants showed up and I didn't have time to get back to the room to pick up my camera. Rather annoyingly she often gets better images on her mobile than I on my DSLR in any event!! "

Over one million wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles complete this ancient circuit.

The Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania serves as the heart of the Great Migration. However, the spectacle spills over into neighbouring areas, extending south to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and reaching north across the border into Kenya's Maasai Mara National Reserve.

- Attention to detail is the 'name of the game' when you need to confidently propose a destination or property. Our travel "fairy Godmothers" are on top of their game when it comes to remembering the smaller details or little things that make a difference.

For example, Sonja will never forget the first time she visited the 𝐊𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 and stayed at Savanna Private Game Reserve , the "turn down" of her room included a luxurious bath with sherry!!

As an afterthought, she did mention that they saw the Big 5 in one afternoon game drive and that she had the opportunity to take incredible photos.

We are privileged to have both species in South Africa...
The White Rhino & The Black Rhino.

These animals, with their pre-historic dinosaur looks, might be unpredictable and temperamental, but they are bold and fierce and have been seen grazing right next to Lions, with the Lions being equally un-fazed.

I find it increasingly difficult to post anything about rhinos because poaching is still very real, and unfortunately, the numbers are not good... The research estimates that about 2,607 white rhinos are remaining in the National Park, while black rhinos are estimated to number just 202.

Rhino Conservation in 𝐊𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 is an 𝐄𝐗𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐘 important part of protecting one of the most endangered species in the world.

• What is it, and why do we need to pay it. . .

All National Parks, Reserves, and Conservancies charge daily conservation fees to all people entering and staying in a national park – whether they are staying in a private concession or the national park’s accommodation.

These fees go toward conservation and anti-poaching costs and the K9 Anti-Poaching Unit, by contributing to conservation, funds can be raised to help the extensive management of the protected area and conserve the park's natural and cultural heritage.

So by visiting and staying in the Kruger National Park you are directly helping preserve this beautiful protected place.

These underrated antelope seldom wander more than eight km from a permanent water supply. Impalas are fleet runners, renowned for their spectacular leaps over shrubs and bushes. When alarmed, they can leap distances of up to 10 m. They use this technique to escape predators and sometimes, apparently, simply to amuse themselves.

The Kruger is the perfect place to experience big herds of these beautiful animals.

Ulusaba means ‘place of little fear’, it is a private game reserve situated within the Sabi Sand Nature Reserve, surrounded by 13,500 hectares (about 33,000 acres) of open bush.
