The early bird definitely catches the best, biggest worms - same applies to how far in advance you should book a trip to Africa.

At the very least you should book at least 8 months to a year prior to travel to Africa. The reason for this is that the best places often get booked the earliest.

We understand that life gets in the way and this timeframe isn’t always possible - that’s why in certain instances we are able to pull off a last-minute safari, however, your options will be limited and the types of establishments you stay at may not be the exclusive small, luxe lodges.

In aid of raising awareness about men’s health, here are the Cape Seals who we call the ‘Movembers’ of the sea thanks to their ‘mystacial vibrissae’ - aka mustaches which grow to at least 41 cm.

The reason for these long mustaches is to assist them in their hunting when waters offer low visibility. One of the most incredible experiences when in Cape Town is to go kayaking alongside these incredible mammals.

When the Big 5 prove difficult to see, you could always look for the “Ugly 5” - Africa’s take on Halloween in the bush.

The Ugly 5 include the hyena, marabou stork, vulture, warthog and wildebeest.

Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder 😉
