Run for a REASON...
Most of you know that all proceeds raised at the Titanic Challenge Trail run go to the Clarens Village Conservancy to financially assist them in keeping the trails, nature and natural beauty of the conservancy pristine and available to everyone who visits our beautiful village.

THE DRONE RANGER
Our 2024 Titanic Challenge helped them to invest in aviation technology Made possible from the record funds raised by the hard work of Clarens community volunteers, donations of goods and services from local businesses and sponsors and 1000 runner's entry fees.

After many hours of careful consideration and technological research, the CVC decided to purchase this model DJI AIR 3S FLY MORE (DJI RC2) DRONE.
Its state-of-the-art technology has already more than proven itself in Clarens Village Conservancy.

Flown by Chief Pilot Willie le Roux, to be ably assisted by Trainee Pilots Charl Wessels and Head Ranger Alfred, THE DRONE RANGER has a Take off Weight of only 724g, a Max Flight Time of 45 minutes, a Max Hovering Time of 41 minutes and a Max Flight Distance of 32 kilometres. This makes it more than ideal to cover the 2400-hectare Afromontane terrain in all weathers and at night.

It fulfils many conservation functions:
• Aerial observation of animal, bird and SANBI protected plant species,
• Helping direct firefighters, rangers and Search-and-Rescue teams on the ground, and
• Supplying accurate information in the form of top-quality photographs and video footage to enhance the safety and security of both local hikers and visiting tourists alike.

So whenever you spot THE DRONE RANGER flying over you in the Clarens Village Conservancy, please smile and wave, because you’ll be on the CVC’s Candid Camera!

Now that the 245 days of January are almost behind us, we can start planning for all the fun things happening in Clarens in the next few months!

First up, we have the National Beer Day festivities at Clarens Brewery this weekend! Don't miss their amazing beer and food specials, live music, and more on 1 February.

There's two great events taking place in Golden Gate National Park. First up is the Birding Weekend from 7 to 9 Feb and then the first ever Dino Challenge MTB and Trail Run on the 8th of March. The marathon is taking place on that same Saturday, and this year, Fouriesburg is hosting the event.

February is the month of love, and many restaurants and accommodations in Clarens are celebrating with specials. Keep a lookout for more on that! There's also a cheese making course at Dunelm Guest Farm on Valentine's weekend that's not to be missed. Dunelm Gasteplaas

One of the biggest events on our village calendar is taking place on Friday 28 Feb and Saturday 1 March... jip, it's time for the annual Clarens Craft Beer Festival. To those who are lucky enough to have secured tickets and accommodation, enjoy the festival! You can expect a massive and delicious selection of beers, ciders, and more from the top breweries around the country, as well as awesome live music, yummy food, and a great vibe.
