It is the icon of freedom and the beginning of van life travel.

Today is the day that the Beetle Maniacs are arriving in Clarens!!

We are expecting 140 VW vehicles, 350 people and 8 dogs.

Our gorgeous local Delilah the Dreamer VW autovilla will be there, as well as another familiar Beetle!

They are meeting at various locations around the country and are then traveling in convoy to Clarens.
Arriving this afternoon.

The organizer of this event is amazing and doing his all to support our fabulous village.
His itinerary for the group includes eating in town tonight, shopping tomorrow am, visiting the market, meeting Maluti FM staff in person (they chatted on air last week) All attendees are bringing a donation for Cluny, they are supporting our fabulous local musicians who will be playing at the private event on Saturday.

Let show these VW enthusiasts some Clarens love.

Please allow them space to park and showcase their special vehicles around the square this weekend.

Pop down to the square tomorrow midday and say hi and marvel at the huge variety of VW's that they have gathered for this event

A big thank you to all the guest houses who have accommodated the Beetle Maniacs for a 2 night stay over a long weekend. Much appreciated.

Tilly had some inspirational company this week.

We had the pleasure of hosting Ian and Anita from the UK.

This is their "van"!!
Don't let the bakie look put you off, this camper is so well equipped.
It was built by Ian ans shipped to SA from the Uk and has been thier travel companion for the last 9 years!!!

Yes this fabulous couple have been traveling non stop around the world for the last 9 years!!!

What an inspiration they are!

Tilly has been on some unusual adventures lately.

We chauffeured some gorgeous pink ladies around for their Flamingo themed Bachelorette party!!

Tilly made the perfect party bus and became a fabulous backdrop for thier photoshoot.

Tilly had some serious competition.
A bevy of beauties all dressed in bright pink!!

And a feathered flamingo in the pool!

We found Flamingo themed beer and vanlife road trip branded beer at the Clarens Beer fest in our home town!!

The beer was topped with slushy ice!!
Perfect for one of the hottest days we've had this summer!

And a cool VW kombi selling delicious seafood!!!

Pixie and Fairy Village is on the main road as you enter Jacobsbaai

The number 1 reason to visit Jacobsbaai is to go the the Pixie and Fairy garden.

It will blow you away.

We will share loads of photos.
But the photos do not do this magical quirky place any justice.

They do also have a basic camp site.
Or you can stay in tents.

Cool areas in the camp site like various bars, whirlpool bath, cinema room and bonfire areas.

And a labyrinth which was built in lockdown by volunteers and dedicated to the owner MAMA PIXIE, who we met.
She is a very interesting person, well suited to her name.
She has been collecting fairies for over 30 years.
The Fairy garden took 4 years to build and opened a few years ago

We found a quite little nook and it felt like our very own private beach.

Tilly loved being so close to the sea.

We made friends with the cutest dog, a baby seal a little way out and watched the most gorgeous mermaid swim in the crystal clear sea !!
