🟢WE HAVE BEEN IN FACEBOOK NEWS🟢 ... for all the wrong reasons
We take guest feedback very seriously, but we cannot allow false and misleading claims to go unchallenged. In a recent post about our guesthouse and in particular about the owner, ie. me, Wanda Boshoff, inaccurate and downright false information was shared by a guest who stayed at our establishment on Friday, 21 March 2025. The post does not reflect the experience we provided nor the high standards we uphold.
We pride ourselves on offering exceptional hospitality and all of our Terms and Conditions listed on all of the online listing sites are strictly enforced, particularly those pertaining to safety and security. The guest unfortunately chose to ignore most of our T's and C's and when housekeeping alerted us to an unregistered guest, ie. a trespasser, we reported the safety and security guest misconduct to Booking.com Following the latter, booking.com requested video and/or photo evidence to support our claim, which we promptly provided and they contacted the booker. The latter appears to have been his wife, ie. a third party booking.
Several comments on the guest's post, shared on several accommodation and other pages, including SOUTH COAST - Accommodation and The Bluff Online among others, refer to the POPI Act and privacy issues. As an establishment we follow all of the rules and conditions regarding CCTV cameras as set out on all listing sites. Our cameras are listed under the features and facilities list, they point to outdoor common areas such as parking areas and cameras are pointed out by CCTV signs for guests to be aware of. Under no circumstances was video footage nor photos shared with any individual person, especially not his wife, as intimated by the guest. As an establishment we have no interest in getting involved in our guests' personal and private matters.
As a Bluff resident of more than 50 years who is actively trying to contribute to our suburb's economy, I find it even more disappointing to see false claims being made online on several Bluff related pages, without substantiating its validity and not permitting us to comment on derogatory and baseless claims and comments. (Comments from our establishment have been turned off, ie. we are unable to respond to any further comments.)
We encourage honesty and fairness in reviews, and we invite anyone with legitimate concerns pertaining to privacy issues to reach out to us directly. We will not tolerate defamatory or misleading statements that attempt to tarnish our reputation.
