So check this out. Glenwood Community Forum run this weekend annually. Rock Academy and Sycamore Community Church are running the music program for the Sunday evening. I think this is going to be uber cool, some big Christian Rock to get Glenwood jumping. We will run some student bands before and after to warm it up. Like this if you are going to be there.

The new Rock Academy drum studio has just been completed and just in time for the holiday school program. The studio is great for group classes with live tutor demonstrations, facilitated video tutorials and one on ones. Next up is the vocal booth inclusive of top tech and pro vocal coach. 👍👍🤘🐜

So its mid Feb and it’s all happening. A bunch of experienced students have graduated to the next phase in their life and Rock Academy has a huge new intake on of newbies, both young and old. Our first public gig for the year is in mid to late March and as things stand, this will be at Zacks Windermere; details to follow in the forthcoming weeks. So if you are registered at Rock Academy and are yet to play at one of our gigs, start chatting to friends and family to prep them for a good evening out on the Durban music scene.

In our world of Selfies, The Kardashians, sensationalized trivia, self-obsession and materialism, spare a thought for those facing the harsh realities of today’s acts of terror. I find it inexplicable that world powers would not view crimes of this nature in the same light as the many causes that have mobilized troops in their masses to defend human rights. Could it be that the cause of women don’t rank equal, or that society has never viewed sexual crimes in the light that it should, not that these acts are limited to r**e. Or perhaps the plight of Syrians doesn’t fit squarely within the ambit of defending democracy; what a load of crap!! Why are Syrians in their thousands fleeing their country of birth to contemplate starting over will little more than the possessions they can carry by hand?? Somehow the cause gets less air time than the effect, that being thousands breaching international boarders to keep their families alive and safe from this horror. Perhaps reader demand dictates that we would rather view a people migration and criticize their apparent motive, fashion or latest cell phone tech. Perhaps we should see these refugees as ourselves, under slightly different political circumstances or sequence of socio-political events. Comprehending this nightmare is beyond me………………
