Our selection of accommodations avoids the pretentious and commercialised touristy resorts, rather finding homely and hospitable lodges which offer a real feel for the region. Our rental motorcycle of choice is the Kawasaki KLR 650cc dual sport, specifically chosen as easy to ride, incredibly reliable and the best value vehicle for this activity. Our mini fleet of motorcycles have been customised for comfort, to a touring specification which makes them turnkey ready for any of our tours in South Africa. We are also able to provide hired riding gear at affordable rates, or we can help you with most new gear requirements, by prior arrangement. I took a chilled ride with mates Dean and Mark, to go and check out Eston 4X4 Adventures.
We got 99% of the way there and were blocked by the flooded Gwahumbe River. It was a great ride anyway and we'll be going back soon to conclude the assessment - stay tuned.

Our Festive Season/Summer holiday was spent enjoying a great 4X4 and biking safari to Zingela in KZN, South Africa and we had a blast.
The video has no narration as I let the images tell the story. 😃

This was 'Wall to Wall' adventure, starting with some proper 4X4 action to access Zingela and then some really challenging Enduro. A tough enduro route was m...

A fantastic day out adventure biking in The Thousand Hills, then arriving home to feed the Yellow Billed Kites, which the riders loved as much as the riding.

A one day Valley of a Thousand Hills adventure bike ride with visitors in Durban. The ride was great, with superb weather and exciting riding.

Hey Folks, we all know the prescribed method for lifting a bike right - where you put your bum/back to the seat and walk it up going backwards. Well check this, for a great alternate method.
Of course for both methods you will want to practice it, before being 'forced' to do it alone in the bush. So, on your next social break out there, get a buddy system going, to lay your bike down and then pick it up alone - carefully and without 'doing' your back.
You will ride with confidence thereafter, knowing that any bike pickup is very 'do-able'. 👍🏻🏍️😎

I Guided a marvelous ride this weekend, which went via routes less traveled, up into The Karkloof. I have been riding in The Karkloof for 10+ years and I have awarded it the nickname of BHC – Biker Heaven Central!
Nonsense aside, the riding, the settings and the views are in a class of their own and one would be forgiven for thinking that you were riding in The Yukon in Canada. BHC is only ‘ridable’ in the winter months, because in Spring and Summer it is simply unplayable, due to mud and numerous zones which just never dry out.

From Albert Falls up into the Karkloof, with Mt Gilboa and the Karkloof Conservancy being the highest elevations. At the lake pictured here we had the privilege of ‘ticking off’ a a fish eagle and surprisingly an African harrier hawk (Gymnogene), with these being species which we would not easily/ever see at home.

The pine plantation here is clearly for saw timber, as the trees are huge and old, with the unused haulage roads, left alone now for some 20+ years. It could be likened to the legendary Mirkwood Forest in The Hobbit novels, dark and eerie and the bed of needles is thick and slippery.

I had a marvellous Monday tour yesterday, which included a GREAT giraffe experience, by riding amongst a herd of 20+ and they were largely unconcerned about the bikes.
One pic here shows 10 giraffe in one pic and I hear myself saying "try that again!"
The Brits don't deal easily with our heat, even in winter and a head dunking in the Tala pool had to happen. The ostrich with her young joined us for breakfast - delightful! 😄😄

Had another fantastic tour this weekend, taking yet another BA flight crew on walkabout and there's something particularly gratifying about watching the palpable excitement of people thriving on doing something so brilliant for them.

Howdy Folks,
A Good Monday morning to you'all - and what memorable riding did you do this weekend? - please share and tell.

Recycling a great past post here - and we bikers should promote this text into going Viral..................

"I'm a Biker, so please understand a few things.....

PLEASE put your phone down, because the lives you are risking are, certainly mine, but yours as well.

Remember we all have to share the road.
When making a lane change, please use the driver assistance devices that are fitted to your vehicle known as MIRRORS and the blinky things that they call indicators!

In the dry, I leave a 2 second gap and in the wet 4 seconds. The gap I leave between the car in front of me isn't for you to squeeze in. Contrary to popular belief, I cannot stop my bike on a sixpence!

I speed up when I am in your blind spot, not to race, but so that you can see me.

Some of us may ride with our lights on at all times, this is for those less observant so you can see us day or night!

Also if you think my exhaust pipes are too loud, ask yourself if you saw me first or heard me first?

So please watch out for me and all the Biking Brothers and Sisters on the roads. We are all someone’s husband, wife, son, daughter, uncle, aunt, sister, brother, niece, nephew, neighbour or best friend. We will all be better off, and we will be alive to come home to our loved ones.

It doesn’t matter who has the right of way because either way, when you crash me off my bike, then we all lose.

My comment to video editor Roscoe Rautenbach;
Hi Roscoe, Wow this is a fantastic video. It perfectly epitomises the dual sport bike safari, whilst having such an easy flowing story line and seamless view transitions. The music could not have been more appropriate.
Well done and if you ever give up your day job, then there's surely a place for you in the video edit industry.
Cheers from Steve
