Dance is a form of expression, although good technique is important, it is just as important to discover the joy & freedom that comes from moving your body in unique & pleasurable ways. You might have started belly dance as a novel way to keep fit or to de-stress, but now you find that you are intrigued by the movements, the colourful, flowing costumes, the make-up & the traditional music. There i

s no more fun way to get in shape than to shimmy & move your hips to the hypnotic beat of a drum & to move to the slow sensual vocals of a lovelorn singer!!! Belly dancing has changed drastically in the past 11 years since I started Middle Eastern dancing & has become more accessible to all ranges of cultures, creeds & races. There are various belly dance styles such as Modern Egyptian, American Tribal Style (ATS), Tribal fusion and many more. Is Belly Dancing for You? You'll never know until you try. This is a dance form for woman of all ages. Some start as young as 4 years of age, as teenagers or young woman, & others well into middle age. There is no age limit, or any Special body type. Middle Eastern Dancers are tall, short, heavy or thin. There is such a variety of techniques & combinations, as well as ways to express ourselves that we all reach our own comfort zones. Belly dance is perhaps the oldest form of dance and its origins can be traced back to ancient times. At my studio, I however prefer my students to be over 10 years of age as I feel that their bodies have developed & they are now beginning to move into womanhood. The techniques will aide them through puberty & help strengthen their core muscles. For me, personally, this is still a dance form that suits more mature woman as ones personal experiences come through in your dancing. Nadia School of Belly Dance was founded in January 2004 in Durbanville, CapeTown. I teach an eclectic mix of Turkish, Egyptian, Lebanese and a dash of Latin to spice it up. All levels are taught, Complete Beginners through to Advanced. The classes are for fun, as they enhance the feeling of Sensuality and Femininity. However, most importantly they enhance a Persons self confidence and aura, with the added bonus of a great workout.
