In an area north of the Hwange National Park, the Dopota and Nabushome anti-poaching volunteers have been working in collaboration with the Soft Foot Alliance.
The idea was to build predator-proof bomas. This would not only protect their livestock but also enrich crop fields, benefitting both wildlife and communities.

This small bird is a Tambourine dove and a frequent
visitor to our garden. He doesn’t stay long, mainly
because the dogs chase him.
Often seen in the same sport foraging merrily away.
Tick him off your identification list as his beautiful markings
stand out making him easy to recognise : almost black head,
white face and underparts. And in flight the wings
show off a gorgeous auburn colour.

One of my favourite sights - no, not the back end of an elephant.
This is a family of ellies having swum/walked across the Chobe river
to one of the islands. A common sight on the river, especially when the younger ones “appear” having “disappeared” during the deeper water.
