In recent investigations, scientists have made a remarkable revelation concerning three distinct species of deep-sea sharks: the kitefin shark (𝘋𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘢), the blackbelly lanternshark (𝘌𝘵𝘮𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘶𝘴 𝘭𝘶𝘤𝘪𝘧𝘦𝘳), and the southern lanternshark (𝘌𝘵𝘮𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘶𝘴 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘶𝘴). 🤩

These sharks have exhibited intriguing bioluminescent characteristics, representing an exciting development in our understanding of marine life. Among these species, the kitefin shark stands out as the largest known vertebrate capable of producing bioluminescence, with its radiant blue glow setting it apart. 🧐

The reasons behind how and why these sharks emit light are still interesting questions that need more research. Although, it is thought to help them find food or possible find a mate. 🤓🦈
