My favorite cave in Gansbaai, I've explored 17 caves along the De Kelders coastline. The geological formation of Limestone above the very hard and very old Table Mountain Sandstone is responsible for this unique coastline feature.

I had the privilege of taking a couple on honeymoon to for a guided walk and picnic. The picnic included fresh homemade goats milk cream cheese from
We started the day taking advantage of the lowtide with the and from there we cruised on to platbos in my old-school hilux 4x4.
It was a lovely day! The forest canopy lookout was fun and the atmosphere in the forest is so calming.

Soldiers Cave, while browsing a second hand shop in Stanford I happened across an old map of the de kelders coastline. At the precise location where I knew this cave was, was a mark with the name "Soldiers Cave".
A local archeologist theorized that it was likely english soldiers discovered the cave while based at Hermanus.
This cave is one of 17 caves I have explored along the de kelders section.

Caves are so much more than foreboding black holes. Here in De Kelders, Gansbaai, there are many caves each with its own treasures, like this stunning calcite crystal in Soldier's Cave. Our Adventure Caves Tour comprises of two lowtide access caves, I also cover fynbos and history while we walk between the two coastal caves.
