On the 13th of August 2024, B1 Photo Safaris led guests on a Private Wildlife Photo Safaris and we came across this incredible sighting in Kruger National Park close to Nkhulul Picnic spot.

First, we saw the female and then suddenly two cubs appeared this was just stunning and unforgettable. The cubs were playing around and were all over the mother when she took a break they were very inquisitive and seemed to be on top of the world under the mother's watchful eye.

The big male made an appearance as the female and cub disappeared into the thick bush as he was doing his rounds marking his peace of the Sabie River close to Nkhulul Tended Camp and picnic spot. Mutch to the delight of the photographers on board we could capture some amazing images and video of this rare and special Leopard sighting.

Extremely fortunate to see the rare African Wild Dogs in action on two actions at Phabeni Gate and Nyamundwa Dam on the S1 road on 19 and 21 January 2024.

The Wild Dog number in The Kruger National Park is around +500/- with 44 to 48 packs. They live in extremely large areas when they are not denning so very difficult to find them some times of the year.

These two sightings were very quick and gave you a glimpse of the speed and stamina of these amazing predators and how they operate as a pack.

Did you know that elephants have a special diet? They love to snack on trees like marula, knobthorn, and red bushwillow! While they are foraging, they sometimes strip bark, break branches, or even push trees over, especially the big bulls who like to show off their strength. When they trim down trees instead of pushing them over, they can sometimes cause damage to the tree, making it vulnerable to insects and fire.

On September 5th, 2023, we took two photographer guests on a Wildlife Photographic Safari through Kruger National Park from Hazyview.

The morning started well, with a male lion sighting close to Pretoruiskop in very good light. Just before lunch, we received news that a buffalo calf had been killed an hour away from our location. So, we decided to make our way there and arrived at S114, where we saw two male lions feeding. We heard the amazing laughter of Spotted Hyenas and Lions growling not far away from us.

We immediately decided to investigate and arrived just in time to witness the Spotted Hyenas taking over the last part of the carcass from the lion pride. The lions settled down, and the hyenas started finishing the carcass. Suddenly, we saw four female lions approaching from the opposite side and realized that they must belong to a different pride.

The first pride allowed them to feed, but then suddenly chased them about two kilometres away. We did our best to capture all of this action on our wildlife photo safari. It was an exciting moment with lions running around the vehicle, roaring and chasing each other - a spectacular sighting to be part of as a witness.

The lions stood their ground on both sides and eventually made a truce, while the hyenas and vultures took the chance to finish the buffalo carcass. It was truly a wildlife photographer's dream sighting action-wise, not to mention the actual sound and being in the middle of this great lion pride sighting.

If you're planning your next safari, contact B1 Photo Safaris, and let's see what special sightings we can capture together.
