MASSIVE THROWBACK - To late September 2018, and a Re-Edited Video: Here is the story:
I came across a sighting of a female Leopard and 2 tiny Blue Eyed Cubs at a den site. After losing my mind for a few moments, I knew there was something I needed to do ASAP - and that was to let my one Photographer Client/Friend who lives in Belgium know that he needs to get to SA as soon as possible.
His last words to me when he left SA after our previous photographic safari was "If you find Blue Eyed Leopard Cubs, let me know, I will fly to SA for that"
9 months later, that exact thing happened. And I sent him a text while I was sitting at the sighting. The text was "I found blue eyed Leopard Cubs at a potential Den Site, might be here for a few days, how soon can you get to SA", and then I carried on with the sighting with my clients I had for the day.
Knowing the possibility that they could be at this den site for a few days, or they could leave the den site at any time, and having calculated all the risks involved, I received the following message from my client "Flight booked, see you tomorrow afternoon" π²
Fast forward to the morning we enter the park for the first time: We were excited, and nervous, knowing that he just flew from Belgium to SA to arrive at a location/sighting and these animals could not even be there anymore.
But, as we approach the location, we found Mamma Leopard on the rock, relaxed as ever, and we knew the cubs would be there.
We ended up seeing them for the next 4 days, and what a MAGICAL moment it was indeed!
He left SA with a massive smile on his face, and until this day it remains one of his, and my best moments ever as a Wildlife Photographer.
I decided to re-edit the videos I took and added some photos at the end, as well as some music, to drain out the other car noises and people who could not keep quiet at the sighting.
So enjoy this video, which was BY FAR the best sighting i have ever had in Kruger National Park. And share it wit
SENSITIVE FOOTAGE: Wild Dogs with a kill
Seeing African Wild Dogs in nature an exceptional sighting - Seeing them with Puppies, even more exceptional.
Seeing them with puppies, and on a kill - the best!!!
Unfortunately I could not capture the actual kill, but this pack of Wild Dogs managed to kill 4 Impala Babies in a matter of minutes.
These Dogs are extremely busy, move a lot and it can be super difficult to take photos of them. So I managed to capture some video footage of the puppies and adults "playing" with the remains of the kill.
THIS MAY UPSET SOME VIEWERS - However, this was very special for me to see!

Hippopotamus Yawn and Grunt in Slow Motion and in Real Time:
Here is a short video clip of a Hippo yawning, which is in actual fact not a yawn, but a territorial gesture / warning when it feels threatened, followed by the grunting sound Hippo's make.
So after the slow motion video, turn up your volume π

CUTENESS ALERT!!!!!
I was so blessed recently with this sighting of the smallest African Wild Dog puppies I have ever seen π
This was at their densite and they only started coming out of the den about a week before...
This is a very sensitive sighting and therefore viewing protocol around these den sites are extremely strict, so that we have as little impact as possible on these animals, unlike other game reserves and national parks where the public cannot be controlled.
For example, if no adult dogs are present, the densite is not to be viewed and needs to be left unattended.
Never are there more than 2 vehicles allowed at a time, and this densite is also not to be viewed before sunrise or after sunset.
These are just a few principles put in place amongst many others that allows these endangered species to grow up and live 100% natural with no negative form of human impact.
Turn up your volume for these cute puppies πππ
