Hermanus Wine Tours can most certainly assist you with a Wine Tour of the region. We specialise in offering designer tours and therefore we offer you utmost freedom to go to any wineries that you wish to visit. We do have our favourites for each region – Hermanus – Newton Johnson, Sumaridge, Bouchard Finlayson, Hamilton Russell, Spookfontein, Wine Village – and Creation is also a great place to vi

sit. http://www.hermanuswinetours.com/

We are based in Hermanus (Est 2004) and we conduct loads of wine tours of our local wine valley which has over 21 wineries, 14 great tasting rooms, over 130 award winning wines for you to sample and 6 fab lunch time restaurants all set in amazing scenery. (Lunch and/or Food and Wine Pairings are for your own pocket). One Winery up our valley actually won THE red wine of the year in the 2014 John Platter – while another Winery won THE wine of THE year of South Africa against 6500 other wines in 2008, so we are privileged to have these 2 wineries available for you to visit too :-)) . As well as, the John Platter 2015 wine book awarded 7 local Hermanus wines with the highest accolade of them all – 5 stars – this highest score was only awarded to 41 wines out of the 7000 wines produced in SA last year – so we are very happy about this incredible achievement by 3 of our Hermanus producers. Hermanus Wine Tours has also been recognised and recommended by John Platter as a local Wine Tour Guide of Hermanus (the ONLY one listed for Hermanus), with listings in the last 9 editions, including page 670 in the 2021 book and they also have a write-up on their website too

We offer 2 hour tours - up to - full day tours (about 6 to 8 hours) of this region. We collect you door-to-door and supply - a luxury air-con minibus with Chauffeur Tour Guide who has also completed wine course exams with the Cape Wine Academy, so that we can discuss all sorts of aspects regarding wine, its history, vine and grape growing procedures, cellars, bottling, corks, barrels, exports and much more…….while you slowly sip each wine. We also supply cold bottles of water (free of charge), pay for all your wine tasting fees at each winery, box of crackers to cleanse your palates between tastings, John Platter wine book so we can see what the experts have to say about each wine you taste and many more comforts on board….. We start our tours with a quick zip up onto the high mountains of Hermanus at Rotary Way, as this gives you a fantastic birds-eye view of the wine valley that you are about to explore and we will do a quick explanation of what’s what in this very fertile agricultural valley etc, and then go onto the look-out point that is 350m above Hermanus and allows an incredible view of the town, the beach and the entire ocean of pretty Walker Bay, while we present a jovial and informative explanation of the town, its history, what Hermanus is famous for and some fab little stories / myths about Hermanus, then its time to start wine tasting…….. If you do not wish to do this little extra trip (15 to 20mins) and you wish to get stuck into the wine tasting, then that’s totally cool with us, please inform me of your wishes :-))

Our Hermanus wine tours start at R700 per person for the first 2 hours and each additional hour is R100 per person per extra hour (including your Tasting Fees per person, charged by each winery of = R50 to R100 per person, to sample their wine range) (This is from a central Hermanus collection point and return there afterwards.) KIDS go for FREE :-))

This way you are totally in control of how long you wish your tour to be (and how tipsy you wish to become :-))

We can start at any time you desire, but most people prefer a leisurely start of 10.00am / 11.00am as they don’t wish to taste wine with toothpaste and breakfast still on the palates. Group sizes are from 1 person upwards – so we are very flexible upon how many people wish to explore our wine lands. Our wineries are open Monday to Friday 09.00am to 4.30pm-ish / Saturdays 9.30am to 13.00pm and on Sundays only 7 are open – so its wise to do a wine tour on Monday to Friday to get the very maximum from your wine tour. Stellenbosch and/or Franschhoek full day wine tours can easily be arranged too – quotes upon request. Nature is SO incredible – as the last few weeks in Hermanus have shown us – with huge pods of Dolphins and Bryde’s Whales feasting on massive bait–balls of small fish ( and ) – Hammerhead shark spotted on a boat trip, as well as, an Elephant Seal re–visiting the beach at Onrus (after a 10 year vacation) – he is lovingly named “Buffel”, but please keep your distance as he is faster than you think and is huge / very heavy too – and we don’t want you being crushed to death by a seal, now do we, certainly not … – – amazing photos courtesy of – Martin Etsebeth / Lucia Lilleen du Preez / Sonja Fleck / Johan Greyling
