Bamboo Zanzibar brings eco-luxury to the island’s southeast coast. Grown-up sustainable luxury is the offering at Bamboo Zanzibar, a boutique hotel concept designed by Spanish architect Lucas Oteyza.

A seamless blend of African vernacular architecture and Asian design, Bamboo Zanzibar is a sustainable boutique hotel on the island’s southeastern Jambiani coastline. Travellers seeking environmentally conscious bespoke luxury are allowed a curated immersion in nature – from lush forest landscapes to mesmeric ocean scenes. The considered application of locally sourced materials, including natural stone and timber, sandcrete blocks, bamboo and raw concrete, create a contemporary vision of an eco-retreat.

This is a couples only retreat, no families I'm afraid. It's a quiet eco-retreat where relaxing, sipping cocktails and escaping the day-to-day happens immediately as you enter the property.

Sit back, take a big breath, exhale.....you are home!

Seaweed farmers and a dhow - Jambiani Beach, Zanzibar 🌴

Since 1990, Zanzibar has become a primary seaweed producer in Africa. Seaweed farming activities are usually small-scale and carried out in the intertidal zones largely in marine conservation areas, near mangroves and coral reefs. Eighty-eight per cent of seaweed farmers are women, making this an important activity to elevate their economic status and role in the community.

What a fantastic day tour with Haji scooter rent and tours >>>
We were picked up in Jambiani and then we drove through local villages on tarred roads to Kizimkazi. A small village famous for deep sea fishing.

Here we swam with turtles at Salaam cave. The cave houses and cares for sea turtles, providing a safe environment for these magnificent creatures. Visitors have the opportunity to learn about sea turtle conservation and rehabilitation programs, as well as observe the turtles up close. It's a great way to support the protection of sea turtles and gain insight into the importance of preserving their natural habitats. Immerse yourself in the crystal-clear waters, where graceful turtles glide effortlessly around you.

After this magical experience we drove further South to Mtende Beach. Make sure you visit at low tide or between tides. Not high tide because you won't be able to enjoy the scenery or walk out on the sand bank.

What a day exploring the South East coast in Zanzibar.

Our Tribal Leader is currently exploring Zanzibar. These images are from Stone Town. Famous for it's Arabic architecture and beautifully carved, ornate doors. Some are hundreds of years old. When you visit, make sure you spend a whole day, exploring the narrow alley ways and getting lost. You will be surprised at what you will find......

Our Tribal Leader Matthew recently visited Foxes Safari Camps in Ruaha National Park. It's the largest park in Tanzania. Famous for seeing greater and Lessor Kudu and amazing bird life.

Why not connect a Serengeti Safari and then add a completely different style of safari to your itinerary. You can visit the Katavi National Park, Mikumi National Park or even ad d a beach breach in Zanzibar.

How big is that Baobab tree?
Our Tribal Leader Matthew is 6ft tall so imagine how big that hole is. It was a hole cut by poachers to store their weapons and sometimes to hide themselves from spotter plans when poaching in Ruaha National Park. If it weren't for people like fighting for conservation in Tanzania, the National Park's wildlife would have been dessimated. It's hard to explain to people when visiting these areas the amount of work done by people like this to protect them.

Ruaha National Park - Tanzania

Here are some photos our Tribal Leader Matthew took this week while on safari with Foxes Safari Camps He spent three days exploring Tanzania's second largest National Park. It's a park with a huge amount of birds, over 500 species and animals you can't find in other parks like the Lesser and Greater Kudu.

It's the end of the dry season, hot and dry with minimal water in the rivers. This actually makes the perfect time to visit because the game have limited access to water, therefore all the game congregates making it easier to find them.

Then in March, the rivers are in full flood. Water is plentiful, lush and green. It's certainly a park with contrasts. Some guests had visited the Serengeti and then combined two other parks in Tanzania which is what we recommend.

Why not add a Zanzibar beach break to end your safari in Tanzania. Bush + Beach, now that's something to think about!
