This morning, when I let Maggie out, this was the scene that met me. A golden sky. Beautiful and fresh after a bit more rain. Even the birds sound happy. Reminder we're in Himeville, close to Underberg and Sani Pass.

"It's raining, it's pouring" – well, more of a steady, soft rain, but we got over 6mm rain overnight in Himeville! There's confirmed snow at the Lesotho border post. We're close to Sani Pass and Underberg.

On these indecisive evenings when the weather is unsure of what temperature it should be and chooses chilly, we not only have a woodstove in our self-catering cottage in Himeville, but there is some complimentary Old Brown Sherry to add a little tingle to your toes. 🌸Spring is here, and our garden is slowly popping into color. The pink crab apple and yellow dogwood are starting to bloom. It's so exciting! We desperately need rain here in Himeville, close to Underberg and Sani Pass.

Two of my favorite things:
crackers from and the luxurious 240g Shea Butter soap from in Underberg. I had to tell myself, "Walk away" – Debs has got some exquisite stock in! Underberg is less than 10kms from our self-catering cottage in Himeville. We're also close to Sani Pass, the perfect escape into nature. 🌿🛁

Happy 1st day of spring! 🌸 Yesterday, we visited the Pevensey Place fete and found some beauties, at great prices, to add to our 1-acre garden in Himeville near Sani Pass. Excited to see these new additions bloom! 🌱

We need rain [sob], and in the run-up to spring, we're focusing on Operation Dahlia. Replanting and making "blocks" in the beds, so hopefully, they flower in abundance in our Himeville garden. 🌸 We also added a bird bath, and Gift added this walkway. We decided this is the path Maggie runs so planting is futile, we'll give her a highway

We love recycling ♻️ here at Glen Islay Cottage in Himeville! Our new wall, nestled under the oak tree, is made from red bricks we purchased from a lady who was moving, and rocks from our old soak pit that we had to rebuild. Next week, we’ll be adding the remaining rocks to our garden as we prepare for spring growth 🌱. The wooden chairs and table will be varnished before the rains

Today's weather is cold, and tomorrow morning's temperature is expected to drop to 0°C. Eek! Despite the chill, the sunset was beautiful, and we're starting to see signs of spring popping up in the garden. Despite the lack of rain and our garden showing some serious side effects 😢, we are still full steam ahead for "when winter is over." These beautiful pots were a gift, and today, Gift and Omphile (pink spade in hand) did some planting 🌱. I love ♻️ recycling and this wheel rim, found 4 years ago in our then overgrown garden, has been behind the garage until just over a week ago when I decided I had a use and a home for it. Poor Gift gave me that "I hope this is the last time I'm having to move this" look 😱🤣 But here we have it - the extra wood pile storage for our Himeville cottage.

A beautiful fresh morning at . The barista suggested the pumpkin seed and basil pesto with pasta and added olives and feta. Sounds too divine. With our cottage being in Himeville, we are close to all the happening places. 🌞🌿🍝

This morning at about 07:15AM, the dogs and I took our routine morning amble to the chickens to let them out and feed them. It was actually warm outside, despite the snow at the top of the Berg. Our self-catering cottage is in Himeville near Underberg and Sani Pass.

Looking out of our bathroom window, I spied Gift, the gardener, planting some frost-resistant plants and helping him is little Omphile, who, if you haven't met her, is Gladness's daughter. She's almost 2 and adds the song to our day🎶. Too precious! Our poor garden is desolate from the frost and no rain. After all our hard work😭
