Strelitizia in SA known as ‘Bird of Paradise’

Native to South Africa. A common name of the genus is bird of paradise flower/plant, because of a resemblance of its flowers to birds-of-paradise. In South Africa, commonly known as a crane flower.

We have our first flower settled in
- hopefully to stay & come back again & again 🤩

Heliconia very similar, most being native to the tropical Americas, but a few are indigenous to certain islands of the western Pacific and Maluku in Indonesia. Many species of Heliconia are found in the tropical forests of these regions.
