Tintswalo Safari Lodge 🐘

This could very well be the most beautiful lodge we’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting!

And with almost permanent elephant visitors right in front of the camp, we really can’t recommend it enough for a luxurious safari experience!

Why does MalaMala have its illustrious reputation? 🐾

1. Location
This has to be the top consideration!
MalaMala is located in The Sabi Sands Game Reserve - undoubtedly South Africa’s premier safari destination.
Although unfenced it has its own private traversing area of 13 200 hectares and 20km of Sand River frontage which attracts a staggering abundance of wildlife to its banks.

2. Wildlife
That brings us to the wildlife. This is big cat territory and quite possibly the best place on earth to view leopards in the wild! The Big 5 and countless other species are frequently seen too as guests fill up their camera cards at an alarming rate.

As an example the August 2024 game report is as follows:
Total sightings
- Lion 82
- Leopard 166
- Elephant 213
- Buffalo 58
- Cheetah 2
- Cape Hunting Dog 15
*sightings are tallied by day and not by drive. E.g. an individual leopard seen during the morning and afternoon drive on the same day is regarded as a single sighting.

3. Hospitality
With almost 100 years in the safari industry, you can be rest assured that you’ll be very well looked after at MalaMala. The camp atmosphere at all 3 camps is magical! Staff are warm, welcoming and attentive to your every need. Luxurious and authentic African ambiance keeps guests returning time and time again.

Spend a morning drive with us tracking lions in Thornybush Game Reserve 🐾 It took about 2 1/2 hours (with a coffee break) but we eventually found the pride of lions tailing a huge herd of buffalo! 🐃 What usually happens is they will follow the herd until it starts to get dark and then move in for the hunt. What do you think about this style of game drive as opposed to simply driving from one sighting to the next? We absolutely loved it and found it very immersive. We watched on in awe as our guide and tracker did their utmost to find the lions and were also able to learn from their expertise. Along the way we did see some antelope, giraffe and hippo, but our goal for the morning was to find the lions - and I’m exceedingly glad we did! 🐾 @shimungwelodge
