A small family group of elephants is enjoying a mud bath at the near empty dam at the end of the dry season. They are lying down in the mud, trying to cool off as the heat increases during the day in preparation for the first thunderstorms and big rain (which has by now, thankfully arrived!). Another purpose of the mud bath is to kill parasites; the ticks suffocate under the drying mud. #elephant #mudbath #babyelephants #babyelephant #guidedsafari #opensafarivehicle #privatesafari
The Klipspringer (Rock Jumper) is one of Kruger Park’s remarkable antelopes. Its habitat are rocky outcrops, and its pointy hoofs are especially adapted to balance securely on the rocks. They are territorial and live in small family groups. They are mixed bowsers and grazers, meaning they eat both grass and leaves. We observed them making an alarm call warning other family members about an approaching danger - in this case, ourselves- but their main predators are leopards, the African Rock Python or Marshall Eagles or the Caracal (African lynx). #klipspringer #antelope #krugernationalpark #familytime #familyfun #guidedsafari #guidedsafaris #opensafarivehicle
Redbilled Oxpeckers just finished their work of removing parasites from these 2 cheerful hippos on a beautiful day in the Riverbend of Ximpandani. The hippos just finished warming up and now make their return to cool down in the water. #hippo #hippopotamus #frolicking #happyanimals #krugernationalpark #guidedsafari #safaripackages #tourpack #experienceafrica #familytime #familygoals #northernkruger #NorthernKruger
Our guests were witnessing some lion interaction within the pride. The lionesses are bonding with each other and the male is seen relaxing in between them. One of the lionesses is seen wearing a collar with a tracker, that is non invasively recording her whereabouts and movements within the park, and contributes to science and conservation without inhibiting her daily activity. #conservation #conservationphotography #wildlifeconservation #conservationbiology #animalconservation #biologists #naturelovers #holiday #guidedsafari

Missing International Vulture Awareness day by 2 weeks! This video was taken around that time; on a lion kill. Vultures aren’t usually regarded as the most appealing animals of Kruger National Park, but they play an extremely important role (along with other scavenger) in this ecosystem, helping to remove the carcasses and prevent the spread of disease. Stay tuned for more pictures and videos on this topic. #vulture #scavengers #krugerexplorer #krugernationalpark🇿🇦 #guidedsafari #guidedsafaris #guidedtours #blackownedbusiness #blackownedbusinesses
Recently our guests were witnesses to a fascinating interaction between warthogs and hyenas. The warthogs inquisitively follow the hyenas, who carry on with their business as usual. This can happen between predators and prey; while the hyenas aren’t very avid hunters, they still pose a potential threat to the warthogs. However, the interaction is peaceful and calm. #animals #animalinterspeciescommunication #animalinteractions #animalinteraction #krugernationalpark #kruger #safariphotography
Mid-morning footage of leopard on the road. Leopards are solitary and elusive, making them somewhat mire difficult to spot than other big animals or lions; but with some luck, we can see them relaxing in an open area just like here. #leopard #leopards #leopardsofafrica #LeopardSpotting #kruger #krugerpark #animalspotting #animalphotography
Exciting to see a bushbuck and a crocodile so close together; but the buck isn’t at immediate risk as explained by our guide. #crocodile #crocodiles #crocodile🐊 #crocodilesofinstagram #crocodilesoftheworld #krugersightings #krugernationalpark
For those of you who wonder what these 2 male giraffe are doing: Yes the are „fighting“ or sparring as it is called; although it doesn’t look very aggressive at all, the giraffe’s ossicones (rather than horns) which are the 2 bony protrusions on their heads pack a punch. They are hairless on top with males, which is one way of telling a male from a female giraffe. #giraffe #gentlegiant #animals #animalphotography #animalfight #krugernationalpark
Some perfect pictures of buffaloes at the water hole taken by our guide. With winter having arrived and water supplies dwindling, any water hole is a welcome sight for any animal. The buffaloes come not@only to drink, but also remain in the water where terrapins rid them if parasites on their undersides; while the oxpeckers take care of the back out on land. #buffalo #oxpeckers #oxpecker #krugernationalpark #animalphotography #wildlifephotography
