Nyani Cultural Village

Nyani Cultural Village SA is not just about wildlife. It's the way we live, the food we eat, the traditions and history that makes us who we are. We are the heartbeat of Limpopo.

Come and share in the music, stories and dances that are the essence of our culture. Nyani Cultural Village Experience with “Roots of Rhythm” Tribal performers
“The Heartbeat of Africa in Hoedspruit”

Your cultural adventure begins in our authentic Shangaan village, where you’ll experience our signature show, “Limpopo Pathways.” This captivating performance showcases the costumes, songs, and danc

es of the San (Bushmen), Shona, Venda, Balobedu (Modjadji the Rain Queen), Pedi, BaHananawa (Tswana), and Shangaan tribes. The show also features Swati and Zulu dances, reflecting the historical influence of these tribes in the Limpopo region. In this hour-long theatrical production, the origins, journeys, and lifestyles of these tribes unfold before your eyes. Set amid the natural beauty of an authentic Shangaan village, the show is both entertaining and educational, bridging the past and present through a powerful narrative. Following the show, guests learn about the architecture, agriculture, family duties, and customs of the Shangaan people. Interactive and hands-on experiences allow guests to participate in traditional activities—learn how to build huts, grind maize, and discover the rites of passage for Shangaan boys. This immersive tour concludes with a traditional African lunch, served in a communal style, reflecting the warmth and hospitality of the village. Established in 2008 as an NPC, the Roots of Rhythm Show Group consists of talented local residents from Acornhoek’s rural areas. Trained in singing, dancing, drumming, and dramatic performance, they bring to life the vibrant culture of the region. Nyani Cultural Village is situated on the private Tshukudu Game Reserve, just 6km from Hoedspruit, home to Tshukudu Game Lodge. A minimum of 15 guests is required to validate a show. We also offer a traditional African meal on request, featuring grilled chicken, pap, tomato relish, butternut, and (for the adventurous!) mopani worms.

Special Appeal to Hoedspruit Lodges, Tour Operators, and Residents:

Dear Hoedspruit Community,
Hoedspruit, the gateway to the Kruger National Park, is a growing tourism destination celebrated for its beautiful animal conservation experiences, including Moholoholo, HESC, Jessica the Hippo, hot air balloon rides, the Panorama Route, and Blyde Dam boat trips. Among these, the Nyani Cultural Experience has stood out as an educational, uplifting, and joyous heritage experience for school groups, international tourists, and local visitors for the past nine years.
Our Current Challenge
Rebuilding Nyani Cultural Village was unexpected and definitely not budgeted for. The sale of our previous property came as a big surprise, and I am beyond grateful to Tshukudu Conservancy for saving us from complete annihilation. A heartfelt thank you to Tracy den Dunnen from Zandspruit, Helle & Max from Denmark, Eric from Switzerland, and Neels Beukes from Gold of Africa for your generous donations. Your contributions have helped us complete the painting, plumbing, thatching, and ablution block.
How You Can Help
We are nearly finished, and your support has been phenomenal. But we need a little more to reach the finish line. If 100 people contribute R100 each, we can complete the project without incurring debt. We really need your support to keep Nyani Cultural Village alive.
Why Support Us?
Nyani Cultural Village is more than a tourist attraction; it's a vital platform for sharing the rich history, culture, and traditions of the African people in Limpopo. Supporting us means preserving and sharing our cultural heritage and ensuring that the Nyani Cultural Experience continues to educate and inspire visitors from around the world.
Join Us in Keeping Culture Alive
Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant impact. Please help us complete this project and continue our mission. Let’s ensure that the Nyani Cultural Village remains a vibrant part of Hoedspruit’s tourism landscape.
Thank you for considering our appeal. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated.
Warm regards,
Maureen and the team
