One of the absolute highlights during your stay at @ubuntuluxuryvilla is a day-trip to the Panorama Route, actually it’s one of the highlights of a visit to South Africa 🇿🇦.
You can either go with a professional guide, but it’s also well known as a self-drive.
We think the following stops should absolutely be included in your day in the Canyon🤩:
1. Lisbon Falls, there are many waterfalls to visit along the route but this is still one of our favorites
2. God’s Window and the Rainforest Walk, this gives you a stunning view over the lowveld and when you are there during fall all aloes will be in bloom too😍. Absolutely don’t forget to hike up along the Rainforest Walk. Walk in between gorgeous indigenous plants and end with the most stunning views!
3. Have lunch at The Chubby Pig, located along a crystal clear river and try some nice local dishes such as Bobotie.
4. Visit Bourkes Luck Potholes and see both the river Treur and Blyde come together. Watch how these rivers shaped all the rocks 😍
5. Last but not least, see the Three Rondavels and the actual Blyde River Canyon. We still think this is THE highlight of the day, although everything is stunning of course.
TIP: plan this at the end of your day as the light on the rondavels is the best!
Should you wish to see the canyon from another perspective it’s always great to book a 1,5 hour boat trip through the canyon and experience all from a different angle.

Meet The Lisbon Falls 💦🇿🇦
One of the most dramatic and iconic waterfalls on the famous Panorama Route - South Africa. The waterfall is also one of the highest of the region with 94 meters / 308 feet high.
There are 7 different waterfalls to visit long the Panorama Route, but this is our absolute favorite. It’s even more spectacular in summer after the summer rain when the rivers are full and pumping.
We recently visited this beautiful area together with our guests @nala_africa_safaris and @bea_adventurous_ as part of a day trip to the Panorama Route.

We received many questions about the roaring lion we encountered on a recent game drive / safari. Many people responded and thought there was something wrong with this lion, but actually it’s very normal behavior. These lions are 3 brothers and were resting after they had killed an animal and eaten. At the end of the day, just around sunset lions become active and start communicating with each other, which is via roaring. One of the brother started to respond short after.
When lions start to yawn it’s also a sign that they will start getting active and walk or in this case go and drink some water. We hope this helps to understand the bush a bit better and lion behavior.

How amazing was this sighting of Notch, one of the 3 Khaya / Rietspruit boys 💪🏼💓. They had killed something as their bellies were very full and we thought they were not going to move at all and all of a sudden they started to roar 🦁.
No better sound in the bush🙌🏼💓💪🏼🔥.
So special to show this to our current guests as this was their first afternoon game drive🇿🇦🍀. We were also lucky to get so close to them and have the best view on them.
