To those that have heard of Mark or know him personally, you will have heard that he recently survived a crocodile attack while on a Trail within the Kruger National Park.

Mark is a very close friend of the Maninghi Lodge Maninghi Lodge and PAW Safaris Team, and he has helped us massively achieve our guiding goals.

He is now out of the hospital but will still need to undergo a lot of therapy before he can get back on his feet and into the bush - the place he calls home.

Hi, I’m Paul Slyer; I run PAW Safaris, and it’s my pleasure and delight to attend to the specialized needs of the individual guests whom we guide on luxury safaris in the wild African bush.
My love-affair with the natural world began when I was a very little boy, when my parents first took me to the world-renowned Kruger National Park; I’ve been absolutely captivated ever since. For the last 37 years, my travels have taken me to the parks and reserves of my own magnificent country, and beyond through much of Eastern and Southern Africa, Australia and Asia, endlessly absorbed by the astonishing diversity and intricacy of our planet’s exquisite fauna and flora.
In 2014, my passion became my professional career when I established PAW Safaris. With Field Guide Association of South Africa (FGASA), i am an accredited Level 3 Nature Guide, Professional Trails Guide and i've recently qualified as a Mentor for Trails Guide through FGASA, enabling me to pass on my own knowledge and skills to the rising generation of guides.
Through PAW Safaris, we specialize in tailor-made adventures, photographic and wildlife safaris, in the unparalleled wild places of Southern and East Africa. We revel in the endlessly changing vistas, magnificent sunrises and unmatched sunsets of the bush, inhabited by myriads of fascinating animals, birds, insects, flowers and trees. We wake in the fresh quiet of the African morning to the dawn chorus, and sleep peacefully to an orchestra of singing crickets, punctuated by the roaring of lions or the eerie calls of hyena and jackal in the night.
I have a deep and abiding love for the natural world, and it is a great delight to inspire my guests with my own unfolding knowledge and experience, walking alongside them to places of peerless wonder and beauty. To my joy, many of my clients return again and again to explore with me, so it is my pleasure to count them firm friends.

Our guests had a fantastic day exploring Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in search of Mountain Gorilla’s. It was a tough hike but well worth it finding these exclusive primates. With beautiful scenery as well as other treasures to discover.
Trekking the mountain gorilla’s in Uganda, Rwanda and the Congo is a must for everyone’s bucket list as well as support towards these magnificent endangered great apes.

Situated against the Botswana border, close to the Kalahari Desert, is Madikwe Game Reserve.
Although a lesser known reserve, its grassland, forest and rocky Tshwene Tshwene hills make it a haven for a variety of wildlife, such as elephants, lions, leopards and rhinos, plus the endangered wild dog. The park also has a wide variety of bird species, and is any travelers dream destination.
