Splish splash, a Rhino in the bath π¦
Wallowing helps to cool down animals and a covering of mud over the body offers some protection from the hot sun and biting insects.

It's that time of year again when the Red-crested Korhaan put on their fantastic shows! In the breeding seasons, the males call and put on an amazing flight display- flying up above the tree level before parachuting down to the ground again. If a female responds, the male raises his red crest and does quite an extraordinary 'bouncing' dance to woo her.

Finally, the rain has come π§ Lovely to see the Leopard tortoises out and about again!
Leopard tortoises do not hibernate in winter, but generally slow down and conserve energy. They are seen regularly in the Lowveld after the first rains of the season, when there is plenty of water and fresh shoots for them to enjoy.

This adorable little hyena was very brave coming to investigate our safari vehicle, before bolting back off home π π
Hyena often use old termite mounds as dens, which provide a useful hiding place for youngsters like this.

A pride of Lion enjoying the results of a successful hunt π¦
Lions feed on a variety of prey, with the bulk of their diet usually being medium to larger animals, such as Zebra or Buffalo. The order in which Lions eat at a kill is determined by the dominance hierarchy, with adult males generally eating first. When it is a large animal with more meat to go around, sharing is less of an issue.

Wild Dog are very social animals and have strong bonds with their pack, always interesting to observe their social behaviour and spend some time with them on safari.

Sometimes you need to get creative to really get the dust properly in those hard to reach places and scratch that itch! All that exertion causing a little gas to exit at the end there π π¨ π
Elephant's take dust baths to cool off, and to protect themselves from insect bites and sunburn.

It's complicated having a drink when you are the tallest land mammal π¦ π¦
With a long neck and long legs, a giraffe needs to widen its front legs and bend at the knees to reach down to water. As they are vulnerable in this position, they will generally have a good look at surroundings for any signs of danger before drinking.
