Copperleigh Trout Cottages is fully equipped for self-catering and is situated on the edge of the 10ha trout stocked Mavela Dam in upper Dargle, route 3 of the popular Midlands Meander of KZN. It has been stocked annually with trout since the mid 1980's by the NFFC (Natal Fly Fishers Cl

ub). It has both Rainbow and Brown trout. Copperleigh Trout Lodge was officially opened in July 2017, and is a beautiful modern farm house, perfect for a family reunion or friends get together. 3 comfortable bedrooms accommodate up to 6 adults and 3 children (Max 9 guests), 2 bathrooms each featuring a shower and toilet, amazing scenery with iNhlosane mountain nearby and farm animals to entertain you - all you need is your fly fishing rod, a good book, or enjoy our DSTV Premium and selection of dvd's. The large indoor fireplace is a firm favourite with guests, as is the outside firepit. Tripadvisor awarded us with a “Certificate of Excellence” for our achievements in hospitality and service. In August 2019, Copperleigh Trout Cabin was officially opened to guests. Beautifully built from the ground up, this deluxe log Cabin is perfect for couples needing a romantic escape to the countryside. It is situated right on the waters edge. It also has an outside braai area, and will be sure to leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated after your stay. Featuring 1 bedroom with queen size bed, en-suite bathroom with heated towel rail, open plan lounge and self catering kitchen area. A flatscreen tv with a selection of dvd's is also provided, Android TV (Apps include Netflix, DSTV Stream & Showmax). Your stay will include:
Welcome basket on arrival;
Complimentary Daily Housekeeping (Monday - Saturday; Sunday Additional Fee). Free Access to the dam to Trout Fish - Catch and Release;
Free use of a 3 seater Kayak;

It has been a long winter, with cold days and late nights visiting the sheep shed to check up on the ewes lambing and goats kidding down - we're on the home stretch now though. The first spring rains have arrived this past week and the grass is starting to get greener here at Copperleigh Trout Cottages.

One would usually associate winter with brown grass and dust, but it can also be a really beautiful time of the year on the farm! Here at Copperleigh Trout Cottages you will be blessed with some stunningly beautiful aloes as you enter the driveway or you can find some out in the veld when going for a walk. The Boston, Dargle and Impendle CTO have decided that we will be installing brand new river signs at the bridge which goes over the Elands river in Boston. We aim to provide a point of interest for locals as well as tourists visiting the area. We are also replacing the old defaced Boston, Dargle and Impendle road sign near Lions River so that people can find our beautiful area more easily! Stay tuned for photo updates on that.

The Hartman family came as guests to Copperleigh Trout Cottage and left as family! They enjoyed it so much that they stayed for nearly a week on the farm with us, and later sent through some beautiful photos which they were happy to share with everyone. Please enjoy!

I'm a few days late, but better late than never! The first lambs of 2018 arrived at the end of last week, here are a couple of pics of them with the ewes. It was a cold night so I had the red lamps on to keep them warm. We now have 7 happy healthy babies!
