Effective 1 August 2024: Embargo on the transportation of dogs to the USA

Due to new restrictions imposed by the US authorities, it will no longer be possible to transport dogs to the USA on passenger flights starting 1 August 2024 until further notice. These restrictions apply to all dogs that are transported as carry-on baggage in the cabin (PETC) or in the cargo hold (AVIH).

For travel on/after 1 August 2024:

New PETC/AVIH bookings on affected Lufthansa Group airlines flights to the USA will no longer be confirmed as of 4 July 2024.

It is still being clarified if existing bookings with a confirmed transport of a dog to the USA for travel starting 1 August 2024 must be canceled at short notice.
