A moment with a young elephant bull whilst on game drive at Simbavati.
During dry patches, when water is low, an elephant can sense water below drive river beds, and will dig holes to find the underground water table. Fascinating animals!

River hopping at Simbavati
The experienced Simbavati ranger and tracker escorting the South African Tourism media trip from Belgium, across a low running river, across to a herd of elephants grazing lazily beneath the trees.
It is such a beautiful time of the year, having enjoyed decent rains. Everything is so lush and green, and the bush feels so alive!
Green shade
It is hard to tell if it is the local wildlife or the guests at Simbavati River Lodge that are enjoying the bountiful river that lies just beyond the lodge main deck and suites most, and the remarkably green landscape framing it too!
It is simply magnificent.
