No, this is not an April Fools' joke.

Catching an Indo-Pacific Permit can be tricky at the best of times. These elusive fish are easy to spook and tend to cautiously inspect even the most well-presented fly. But, as with many things in life, some days are easier than others.

Our good friend and longtime guest Joerg managed 2 Indo-Pacific Permit in two casts. These were 2 of the 5 permit he landed on the day. What an amazing display of just how incredible the fishery at St. Brandon’s is. Well done, Joerg—truly a once-in-a-lifetime day out on the flats!

Big Fish Friday

There’s something truly magical about the Indo-Pacific Permit of St. Brandon’s Atoll—they’re elusive, challenging, and hands down one of the hardest fish to catch on fly. Catching a trophy is a true test of patience, precision, and perseverance, but when it all comes together, it’s a feeling unlike any other.

Ben landed this fin-perfect 15lb permit on the first morning of his 2-week stay with us. The fish ate almost at the rod tip and put up a solid fight with long, powerful runs. After a couple of quick photos, it was released, giving Ben a moment to savor his first Indo-Pacific Permit.

New Season Loading...

We're packed and ready to head back to our favorite walk-and-stalk fishery. Home to some of the largest bonefish found anywhere on the planet and a healthy population of Indo-Pacific permit, St. Brandon’s truly feels like heaven on earth. The guides are all super excited for the season ahead and eager to see what this wild place has in store for us and our guests.

If there’s one fish that looks like it swam straight out of a prehistoric era, it’s the Napoleon Wrasse. These massive, neon-green bruisers rule the reefs of Providence Atoll, cruising the drop-offs and coral heads like true kings. Hooking one on fly? That’s when the real challenge begins!

The eat is aggressive, the fight is brutal, and if you’re not ready, it’s over in seconds. These fish know every hole, every ledge, and every way to break you off. But when everything goes right, holding one of these reef giants is an experience thats hard to beat.
