With the tides transitioning from neaps to springs, the increased water flow over the flats created thrilling opportunities to target predator fish like GTs patrolling the atoll.

Anticipation was high as we headed into our third week of the season, with our guests already on the atoll, eager and ready to begin their second week. Tide-wise, we were moving into neaps, which provided more time for wading the submerged flats in a more relaxed fashion.

There was plenty of action with our 'Big Three' species, as good numbers of Bones, Permit, and even GTs were landed during the third week of the season.

St Brandon Blog: 10 – 20 Sept 2024

We headed into week two on what is undoubtedly one of the most remote and beautiful places on earth. Joining us was a group of fresh and eager anglers who had opted for our two-week package, ready to spend and share an unforgettable fortnight on this world-class fishery.

Unfortunately, we faced challenging conditions at the start of the week, with strong southeasterly winds and rain. Tough conditions, no doubt, but the guests persevered. As the week progressed, the weather improved—and so did the fishing!

St. Brandon’s Atoll boasts some of the largest Bonefish on the planet.

Thanks to a steady easterly wind delivering cold, oxygen-rich water to the flats, these remarkable fish gather in large numbers across expansive flats, ridges, and around the islands that make up the atoll. While the larger Bones can be just as challenging to target as Indo-Pacific Permit, nothing matches the thrill of a double-digit Bonefish ripping line as it bolts towards the horizon.

While St. Brandon's is renowned for its Bonefish and Indo-Pacific Permit, it’s also home to a population of impressive GTs.

Though not as abundant as those in Providence, Seychelles, the Geets here reach remarkable sizes, feeding on the plentiful large prey in the area. Encounters might be rare, but always stay prepared—you never know when the fish of a lifetime will appear on the flats.

For those who aren't familiar with it, the only way to take it off is to land your first fish of the day. Luckily, out on Providence, that can happen before you've even reached the flats.
