These awards recognise outstanding work on The MTN Xcellerator Programme and the MTN We Got the M-PWR music video, created in collaboration with MTN CXO and Game On Performance Solutions.

After an incredible journey in Saudi Arabia, the Actuate team is back, filled with inspiration and a sense of achievement. We’re proud to have partnered with our client to implement transformational change strategies that are set to shape the future of their organisation.

Our time in Saudi Arabia reaffirmed the power of global change expertise and partnership with clients, where understanding local nuances and aligning them with global best practices make all the difference.

Saudi Arabia surprised me in so many ways. From swimming in the Gulf of Arabia, to eating a traditional meal, on the floor, with my fingers and workshopping with people from the executive to the frontliners was intriguing. The warm welcome and willingness to change was palpable and our concerns around language challenges melted away during our research conversations. The country is transforming at a rapid pace and Vision 2030 is something to watch.

We’d like to thank our client for their trust and collaboration -it is an honour to work together. The future looks bright, and we’re excited to see the positive impact unfold.

To celebrate Women’s Month and acknowledge the contributions of The Actuate Group in the mining industry, we are presenting a short series focused on Women in Mining. This series delves into the challenges, changes, and progress within the sector, featuring insights from real women actively working in mining.

Women represent 12% of the mining workforce in South Africa.

Consider Zeinab Camara (representative picture): “Each morning, knowing that my work positively impacts the lives of both women and men is the greatest reward. Africa is blessed with immense resources—let these benefits be shared by all.”

A major concern for women working underground is safety, particularly the risk of sexual harassment and violence from male colleagues and illegal miners.

Improvements have been made to enhance safety for women working underground. These include better lighting, safer facilities such as toilets, showers, and changing rooms, and the provision of work buddies to ensure they do not have to move through isolated areas alone.

The Minerals Council of South Africa also highlights that altering the mindset of male colleagues is essential for ensuring women’s safety at work, and this remains a top priority.

The more we learn, the greater the skills we have to weather the storms of change.

Learning offers people the opportunity to and in new and different ways.

Here’s to embracing the chaos, for within it lies the seeds of growth.
As we navigate change, let us remember that learning is our greatest ally. Let's continue to empower ourselves with knowledge, skills, and new perspectives, enabling us to not just survive, but thrive, in the face of change.
