A few reasons to visit Yzerfontein

Yzerfontein, a quaint coastal town just 90 km north of Cape Town, boasts a rich history and stunning natural surroundings. Originally a farm owned by the Katz family in the 1930s, it has since evolved into a residential area with plots for housing. The town is renowned for its pristine Sixteen Mile Beach, nestled next to the West Coast National Park. Within a 4km radius, visitors can explore a Distillery, a Winery, and a Brewery. Nearby, Dassen Island offers another nature reserve experience, just 10 km offshore. Yzerfontein's economy thrives on tourism, particularly during the wildflower season, as well as mining and fishing industries.

Each year, we service the Table Mountain Cableway to ensure safety for all staff and visitors.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
If your birthday falls within our 2024 annual maintenance period, you can collect your birthday tickets during September 2024. Please bring along your valid SA ID document, driver’s licence or birth certificate (inclusive of an SA ID number) to prove that you have celebrated your birthday during the seven-week shutdown.

Friendly Reminder: Visitor Safety Information Tips.

Dear Visitors,

Table Mountain National Park would like to remind visitors to take note of the following safety rules:
• Don’t hike alone – we recommend four or more, why not join a hiking club and open the door to a world of new experiences!
• Ensure you know the route before starting the hike.
• Take a map with you no matter how well you know the area.
• Tell someone not hiking with you what time to expect you home so they can raise the alarm if you don’t arrive timeously.
• Please ensure each person in the group has enough water with them. Dehydration is a real danger.
• Check the weather before you depart.
• Hike with a jacket, hat, and sunblock. The weather in Cape Town changes hourly.
• Stick to designated tracks.
• Leave your valuables at home.
• Please load our emergency number into your phone before setting off. Table Mountain National Park Emergency Number 086 110 6417. Wilderness Search and Rescue Number 021 937 0300 or dial 112.
• Entry to the park remains at all times at your own risk.

Beautifull winefarms worth visiting. Most of them offer more then only great wines. Tastings with cheese or chocolat, excellent meals, picnics, outdoor activities or childrens playgrounds.
Options to book comfortable accommodation and
some also have a museum on the premises. And don´t mis out the harvestfestivals.
