This time last year we were finishing off an incredible safari that started in Vic Falls and Botswana, ending in Cape Town. What an incredible trip and sightings we had. April and May are great months of the year to be on safari. The rains have mostly ended, the weather is cooling down yet the vegetation is still quite green. Sightings are abundant and it is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of shoulder season rates.

With the green season fast approaching, now is the perfect time to take advantage of the low season rates. The rains have begun and there is change in colour taking place as all the grasses and leaves begin to turn green. There is an abundance of life, with many of the antelope beginning to give birth to their calves. And the incredible landscapes become contrasted by dark blue clouds and afternoon thunderstorms, often leading to the most spectacular sunsets.

It’s world rhino day today! We should all be celebrating this amazing species that is so special to be able to see in the wild, and that is still under such huge threat. The awareness of the plight of this species, and the importance of knowing how we can help in the fight to protect it is vital in conserving the remaining populations.
Just by traveling to camps and lodges that operate in areas that have rhinos, guests are directly contributing to help in the fight against poaching.

Diving into the week! We caught this croc by surprise basking on the bank of the river. It instantly spun and launched itself, disappearing within seconds. Only once editing these pictures did I realize that the splashes of water parted perfectly to reveal the emerald eye of this prehistoric creature.
