"John Pearse has grown up in Southern Africa, dedicating a large portion of his time to revelling in many of the magical outdoor opportunities she has to offer. One time Okavango camp owner, former pilot and hunter John is also a passionate birder ( over 750 lifers ) an experienced wildlife photographer, golfer, and safari planner. Over 35 years of personal experience in seeking out the very best

wildlife and birding experiences, coupled with a love of good food and a cultivated knack of understanding exactly what makes a great lodge / hotel, there are few if any, better equipped to build you a dream safari trip. With his detailed understanding of the safari / tour space, he is just as comfortable putting together a safari in luxury lodges throughout the principal safari destinations in Southern and East Africa as he is putting together a ‘safari under canvas’ in remoter areas in search of rare birds."

When on safari, keep your eyes peeled as you never know what strange creatures may be around the next corner!

One such is the gerenuk, also known as the giraffe gazelle. This fascinating creature has a long neck, hence its name.

It is a medium-sized antelope, between 80 and 105cm tall, weighing between 18 and 52kg and found in parts of East Africa. Only males have 25–44 cm horns which are lyre-shaped curving backward then slightly forward.
