FOUR IN ONE SPRING FLOWER TOUR – (CAPE TOWN, WEST COAST, FLOWERS AND WINE LANDS) 28 AUG – 1 SEPT 2023
As a general rule, The wild flowers first begin flowering in the Namaqualand in late July/early August and then advance southwards through Nieuwoudtville and the Cedarberg towards the West Coast in late August/early September.
Maximum of 9 guests per tour, for a more personalized, intimate experience.
My goal is to give you the best flower experience possible:-)
We fly into Cape Town from Dawid Stuurman International Airport.
DAY 1:
On this first day of our West Coast and Wildflower tour, we depart early by flight from Gqeberha. / We meet at the Airport in Gqeberha for our flight to Cape Town.
Please take care of breakfast yourself
In the Cape, our luxury transport is ready, and we leave immediately for the Cape of Good Hope National Park. On the way we stop at the beautiful Boulders Beach to view the penguins.
After the tour we check into our accommodation. Overnight at Royal Atlantic, Sea Point.
Dinner excluded.
DAY 2:
This morning we take things easy and eat a lazy breakfast first. After that we start our journey to West Coast National Park.
As soon as the sun is high and its nice and warm, the flowers begin to open.
On the way, we stop in Darling at The Renosterveld Reserve. We see the first spring flowers, as well as birdwatching. Oh, and keep a keen eye out for the red-bellied tortoises. Floral expectations: a variety of renosterbos, bellendini, kapobos and vygies.
Tienie Versfeld Wildflower Reserve is our next stop. On this small patch of land, around 10% of the Cape Floral Kingdom can be found. Floral expectations: Butterfly lilies, lachenalia, chincherinchee and bulbs.
In the West Coast Park, we see the wildlife and enjoy the Postberg section and it's Sandveld flowers. The Park is also home to many animals such as the Mountain Zebras, Red Hartebeest and Eland.
Time permitting, we will visit other flower spots.
Overnight on bed and breakfast basis in Vredendal area.
Tomorrow morning it will be a little earlier for the day's flower show.
DAY 3:
This morning we enjoy once again a delicious breakfast at our hotel. After breakfast we depart from Vredenburg and travel to Nieuwoudtville, the small town on the Bokkeveld escarpment, known as the bulb capital of the world. We drive through Velddrif, with a quick look at Bokkomlaan and up the West Coast via Lamberts Bay.
We stop for refreshments at Van Rhynsdorp and check in at the Nursery for the most beautiful succulent displays.
Then off to Nieuwoudtville and spend some time at the local Dutch Reformed church. We also visit the majestic Nieuwoudtville Waterfall and the quiver tree forest. An amazing array of species are found here - some particularly endemic to the region. It is truly a sight to behold! You can walk among the trees, which are not actually trees but aloe plants. (Quiver Tree Forest )
Check into our accommodation in Calvinia.
We have supper at The Blou Nartjie (Included in tour price)
DAY 4:
We start with a delicious breakfast in Calvinia and turn the direction back to Cape Town.
But first we head off and experience the majestic beauty of the Biedouw valley. This valley, permitting a good season, can boast some of the most beautiful flower spectacles you will ever see.
After that we visit Ramskop Nature reserve in Clanwilliam.
Floral expectations: Daisies, sporries, sugarbush and proteas.
We also pay a visit to the Velskoendraai Padstal in Clanwilliam where you can do a rooibos tea tasting and learn a lot more about this special tea, before we start the return journey.
Bed, breakfast and dinner in Cape Town
DAY 5:
Spend the last day traveling between some of the area's best wine estates, with stops at Stellenbosch and Paarl.
Fairview Wine and Cheese (included) Wine and cheese pairing.
Stop At: Spier Wine Estate – wine and chocolate tastings (included.)
From here we drive straight to Cape Town for our flight home. The time to say goodbye has come and we go home with much more than just photos because now we have new friends for a lifetime.

- Routes can change depending on where the flowers are. We may take out or exchange certain things.
- It may incur extra costs should you want to change any standard travel arrangements.
- You may join the tour in Cape Town if you are not traveling from Port Elizabeth.
- The Tour will only continue if enough people accompany us.

A second payment of R4500 is due by 31 May 2023.
The outstanding amount is payable 60 days prior to the departure date of this tour.
