We're thrilled to announce the Kleinmond Ceramics Festival 2024, happening on the weekend of September 21 & 22! Building on the success of last year, we're bringing a more intimate celebration of ceramics, with a special focus on the talented ceramicists of the Hangklip region.

Exhibition & Market: Discover an amazing array of ceramic creations at the Courtyard Space, The Potter's Gallery, Harbour Road. Explore over 10 stalls showcasing the finest works from local artisans.
Workshops: Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills, we have something for everyone! From novice clay work to advanced techniques, join us for hands-on learning.
RAKU Workshop: Chris Morgan Wilson brings his fiery and experimental approach to ceramics. Don't miss this unique opportunity!
Throwing Workshop: Led by Chris Morgan Wilson, Liam van Niekerk, and Margot Grobler, dive into pottery wheel techniques and create your own pieces.
Festival Faces: Ursula Geldenhuys hosts a mask-making experience that’s sure to inspire.
Protea Vase Workshop: Corinne de Haas will guide you in crafting a beautiful slab-formed Protea vase.

Explore the Harold Porter National Botanical Gardens.

Set within the UNESCO-recognised Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve above Betty’s Bay, these enchanting botanical gardens are a jewel for plant lovers and explorers alike. Wander along paths through an incredibly diverse (10-hectare) pocket of fynbos gardens (with useful labels identifying the plants) and explore the nature trails to discover waterfalls, amber pools and streams crossed by stepping stones. Or hike up as far as your legs will take you. Leon Kluge, designer of the winning Chelsea Flower Show exhibit, says, “Kogelberg Nature Reserve is one of the richest, most biodiverse areas in the world. If you go a little bit further up the mountain from the gardens, you’ll discover an array of pristine fynbos, including a lot of carnivorous plants, which kids especially are always excited to see. And it’s also lovely to see the little red disa in the mountains up there in summer.”

Good to know:
After the entrance gates close you can stay in the gardens until 6pm (April – October) and 7pm (November – March)

Experience the soul of the Overberg with its back roads winding through magnificent vineyards, natural rivers, wind-clipped heathlands over mountains, through lush valleys all whilst enjoying the enchanting views on your path.
The coastline that includes Kleinmond is an absolute paradise for the outdoor enthusiast with hiking trails, scuba diving, snorkelling, river-rafting, sand and surf sports as well as many mountain orientated activities. The Kleinmond Nature Reserve is criss-crossed by a network of trails for hikers that eventually leads into the beautiful Kogelberg Nature Reserve. Look out for the rare Strawberry Rain Frog, the endangered Cape Platanna or even the micro frog in the estuaries and marshlands around town.

Harbour Road, a "shopping street" with an open market feel that leads down to the Kleinmond harbour, is two blocks of local crafts, gallery, wines, food and gifts. Gravity Adventure Group specialises in adventure activities such as rafting, abseiling, hiking, mountain biking and team-building.

The coast offers every sort of walking and hiking trails and to keep the Kogelberg Reserve core area pristine, numbers are limited and permits are required for certain trails.

There are many restaurants on offer to suit every visitors budget. There is a great selection of restaurants, coffee shops and pubs to choose from! Kleinmond has a thriving business community with much to offer.
