Sherrilyn Guess - Travel Counsellors I am your one stop shop for all your travel needs & queries I was born in Zimbabwe, grew up in South Africa and immigrated to the UK just after matric.

I lived in the UK for just over 5 years and decided my heart was still in South Africa. So... I took the bold step at the age of 23 to leave my family in the UK and move to my boyfriend (now husband) in South Africa with only matric and my "University of Life" travels to my name. I was born to travel & I loved every moment of my travels when I was living in the UK and honestly thought it would not

be as easy to travel from SA, how wrong I was! I started working for Flight Centre within 6 months of moving back home and moved over to STA Travel in 2010 and started working from home for Travel Counsellors in 2013. I have been very blessed with many travel opportunities - the most intriguing thing about travelling to a new place is the smell of a new country as you exit the airport which automatically conjures up images of an exciting adventure ahead of you! The countries I have been to:
Australia - Sydney & Brisbane, Surfers Paradise, Harvey Bay, Fraser Island, Whitsundays islands, Cairns

India - Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Udaipur, Bombay
Israel - Sea of Galilee, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Dead Sea

Thailand - Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Lanta, Phi Phi Islands
Zanzibar
Europe - Backpacked for 3 months and visited 13 countries in Western Europe

Greece - Corfu
Mauritius
Melody Cruise - Mozambique
Zimbabwe

Local is Lekker & I am currently focusing my travels on home soil & have found some absolute gems right here on our very own doorstep! I have travelled extensively locally & internationally and am looking forward to making YOUR travel dreams come true:

Brenton Beach Bliss - Knysna

Location, Location, Location and Views Views Views!
My family and I enjoyed 3 wonderful nights at this beautiful Brenton Beach apartment in Knysna during the March school holidays! Wish we could have stayed longer…
Located 500m from Brenton Beach, restaurants, and a small kiosk shop – that is how I remember beach holidays as a kid; walking with my boogie board, towel and neon sunglasses down to the beach for a day of sun & fun!
My daughter loved the outdoor shower in the drive way – perfect for removing all traces of the beach before heading upstairs.

The apartment has 3 bedrooms;
A main room with en suite, balcony and sea views
1 twin room & 1 double room, both open onto a large balcony and share a bathroom

The front balcony offers spectacular ocean & sunset views – the perfect place to sit and unwind after a day on the beach, to enjoy sundowners, or a meal together.

The lounge is comfortable, large sliding doors open onto the front balcony, and offers a TV (including DSTV) as well as WIFI.
The open plan Lounge, indoor dining & kitchen area are an entertainers dream and perfect for the family / friends who are on holiday together as they can share in all the fun no matter which room you are in!

The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, gas & electric stove tops, microwave, kettle, Nespresso coffee machine, coffee plunger, large fridge / freezer, Air fryer, filtered water system, as well as every imaginable crockery and cutlery item you may need during your stay.
The Kitchen also offers a scullery area including a double sink, dishwasher, washing machine, and opens onto the back of the property where there is a washing line, weber braai, brick braai (including spotlight which my husband loved!) and an outdoor dining area under a beautiful bougainvillea pergola. The outdoor dining and indoor dining area are linked via a sliding door so you could easily seat up to 14 people with a lovely flow of meal time chatter!

The apartment has another great space located downstairs, which offers a chest freezer, a bar fridge, 2 couches and ample space to store any items for long stay or long term rentals.

Tsitsikamma Lodge & Spa

If you are looking for a true break away from the hustle and bustle of a busy life, and to create some distance between you and your electronics – then Tsitsikamma Lodge & Spa is the place for you! It is perfect for that romantic weekend away, or to re-connect with your family, friends or loved ones. Each wooden chalet has an outdoor braai area, there are 4 cabin types to choose from and the rate includes a delicious Breakfast buffet. They do offer dinner (at an additional charge), as well as braai wood & meat packs (order in advance).

My family and I loved our weekend here – we felt like we were living in a cabin in the woods with all the beautiful tree’s around us, and the view of the mountains beyond. We stayed in the Garden Cabin, which had tea & coffee making facilities, a bar fridge, TV, as well as an upstairs loft area (which my daughter loved! Her own secret space away from the us!) and can sleep up to 5 guests comfortably. The bathroom had a luxurious spa bath which we all enjoyed after a lovely walk (called the Strip Tease) which had various pools to swim in along the way – a definite must!
We enjoyed a delicious buffet for dinner, and a yummy breakfast the next morning – both served in the warm & welcoming wooden restaurant which offered a fire place and great bar area too.
There is also a big swimming pool and SPA on site…

Old Mill Lodge - Oudtshoorn

The Old Mill Lodge is situated on a family run working Ostrich farm, and is the perfect, relaxed place for families, extended families, or friends travelling together. They are even pet friendly!
Located near the Cango Caves right next to a rushing river, with lush green grounds and hills surrounding the property.
They offer a variety of different accommodation types to suit every budget, or guests needs.
We stayed in a luxury safari tent, which overlooked the river and the ostrich farm. There was a communal pool a few steps away, as well as a lovely restaurant, kids play area, and mini farmyard with guinea pigs, springbok, and mini ponies.
All the accommodation types include braai facilities, however, the restaurant serves delicious meals and a yummy breakfast!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can highly recommend Old Mill Lodge, Oudtshoorn!

Amazing Aquila Game Reserve

Just over 2 hours drive from Cape Town, this fabulous Big 5 Game Reserve is a must visit!

As you arrive you are welcomed with a refreshing drink by friendly staff, then get to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch, while enjoying the breathtaking view of the bush beyond the pool.

Our room was large, light and had the best views of the bush!
The supervised Kids club was fun, with a giant chess board, putt putt, and a safari tent club house.

My husband got to enjoy the Spa – a lovely calm, serene sanctuary to revive and restore your mind, body & soul!

At 4pm we had our first game drive and saw so many beautiful animals, and had a pit stop at the local “watering hole” in the middle of the bush where we could all get out, marvel at the landscape around us, have a drink and meet new people.

Dinner was a gastronomic delight and we got to enjoy some star gazing & toasted marshmallows afterwards – the perfect way to end a great day.

The 2nd game drive was at 7am the next morning – I love early mornings in the bush & all the animals were out and about – unforgettable!

Aquila really know how to entertain, surprise and delight – Thank you for the family memories!

Spier – Stellenbosch

This is one of my favourite hotels and have stayed here on 3 different occasions – its definitely a place you can return to again, and again!

We had a lovely courtyard family room, on the ground floor, right in front of the pool – the perfect place to laze at & catch up with the family.
The rooms are spacious, elegant & offer all the mod cons you could ask for. They also offer a free bottle of wine in the room upon arrival, as well as a free wine tasting. While you enjoy your wine tasting, they have thoughtfully included a grape juice and wine gum tasting for the kiddos – such fun!

My daughter enjoyed the kids club and even got to bake some biscuits – Yum!

The Property has so much to offer; with the various swimming pools, Elemental garden, vegetable garden, Eagle Encounters, Segway Tours, use of adult & children bicycles to explore the vast working farm, fantastic eateries, some of which offer picnic baskets, amazing art abounds and the tasting room is bright & colourful.

Breakfast was a highlight, with a banquet fit for Royalty, in a lovely sunlit room with a beautiful outdoor space.

The staff were AMAZING and truly made our stay even more memorable than the previous trips – Thank you Spier!
