Friends of No Modern Slave by Kgosi came together to witness the talented Gift and his San/Tswana costume exhibition at the Hazendal Festival Soil Edition event curated by another talent

This is Gift's artistic imagination of how the San and Tswana people of the soil would be dressing up had they not experienced deep dispossession of their identity during the colonisation era. Our Director Mpho Molema, as a Motswana/Herero woman, can definitely relate to these black beauties' style. She cited that she would rock these costumes as her daily outfits and some at royal celebrations and tourism events she attends around the world. Well done to Gift Kgosierileng, a native of the Northern Cape.

We kicked off Tourism & Heritage Month by honouring the invitation of going on a **Museum Safari** hosted by the Karoo Development Foundation. We were treated to attend the South African Museums Association National Conference held at the SA Armour Museum at the TEMPE Military Base in Bloemfontein, Free State. As part of the week-long programme, besides listening to interesting presentations by scholars and players in the field, we also visited the War Museum, Naval Hill, Die Raadsaal, City Tour and Oliewenhuis Art Museum - a good glance of Bloemfontein really.

We have somewhat had a problem with how tours of museums can be so dull, long and boring for an average tourist, but yet understanding the importance of including museums in our curated tours because no other information hubs exist like museums. Special pieces of history are kept in these huge and small buildings called museums.

This has certainly inspired us to think about new ways of preserving our history. We might not be museums curators per se, but we are definitely Tour Curators and please be on the watch out for the next Museum Safari (or something similar) where we will now intentionally take experience seekers to go see different types of old and living museums across the Northern Cape, Western Cape and other parts of South Africa.

Thank you, Professor Doreen for inviting Mpho Molema and Kagisho Molema - The Mindset Writer on this learning adventure

"When the sun goes down and you’ve kept your eyes on the ground the whole day, it’s time to look up, beyond South Africa, beyond this planet…it’s time to give the universe a good gander. Because you see, at Sutherland in the Northern Cape, you’ll get one of the best views of the universe this world has to offer.” Reviewed by SA Tourism.

In this Karoo dorpie, besides SALT the largest Telescope in the southern hemisphere, there is a planetarium where the world’s best star gazing happens and not only do you get to learn about the science of the stars but also about the African or cultural narration of the stars 🌟🌠💫 Once you’ve been to Sutherland, you can say you’ve also been to Jupiter, Venus, and the Milky Way.

We will also visit a creative bar & restaurant that is kaalvoet (barefeet) friendly, and enjoy the best lamb in the whole of Africa known as the famous Karoo Lamb. WAIT! Did we tell you that it also snows in Sutherland? ☃️❄️ Yes, it is the coldest place in South Africa that can reach -16°C but luckily, we'll be visiting in the warmer temperatures.

Visiting Sutherland is a bucket list item on any wanderluster's list of places to visit. It is an engineering and artistic wonder that will blow your mind. Everything around you has been created for humans or by humans, therefore WE ARE WORLD CREATORS.

This Tour is a much needed break from crowded cities and stressful lives and will be taking place during the school break in September. It will be our utmost pleasure to have you on board with us to create this memorable experience in Sutherland from 27-29 September 2024.

TO BOOK, please Whatsapp SA CURATED on 0718663517 or visit www.shotleft.co.za and search for us.

EXPERIENCES WE LOVE:
Moffat Mission Station in Kuruman. A story about a generation of two clans, Batswana and London Missionaries in the 19th century. Our tour tells the story in a narrative that is not usual - from the lense of Mary, missionary wife to Mr Moffat and from the lense of Kgosi. Mothibi, the reigning Chief of the time.

Not so long ago, we hosted the WITS University students of Architecture on a camping trip in Kuruman. The Moffat Mission Station is the first site we took them to, in order to conceptualise the influence of global cultural exchange in Kuruman and to the rest of the African interior.

One of the highlight of the tour was when we got to the sundial, the watch or clock of the 1800s that tells you what time it is according to the sun. Noone understood how it worked except for one of the Lecturer's son, Rudi, who is originally from Seoding Village, the nearby settlement where the Moffat Mission is situated. Once again, a demonstration that Tourism is about the local people and place and can bring about many socio-economic opportunities in communities if harnessed properly.

If you want a special guided tour of this place, be sure to contact us. Otherwise you can visit the tourist attraction anytime on an unguided tour.

EXPERIENCES WE LOVE:
Visiting the homestead of the late Baba Credo Mutwa in Kuruman, where we are always warmly welcomed by his dearest wife, Mama Virginia Mutwa. We have done these visits countless times but kindly note that the experience is offered STRICTLY BY APPOINTMENT. This is her home, so you cannot just invade it as you would a normal tourist attraction. Tours are done with utmost respect, please.

We just want to say thank you so much to MamaVirgi for always opening her doors to our large crowds of different natures. We love her storytelling sessions and how she makes our guests feel special and the wisdom imparted. Of course, the other highlight is to see the incredible artwork of Baba Credo, his sculptures and powerful writings are like no other. To book a visit to the Credo Mutwa Homestead in Kuruman, please contact us.

EXPERIENCES WE LOVE: Boesmansgat Watercave. This greenery here is concealed water that is 280m deep, that is just over a quarter of a kilometre deep. And we are right on the edge of it, a hectic adventure experience that we have kept calm even to our visitors so that they don't panic. We have done a number of tours to this place, but it is such a dangerous place to visit, professional cave divers have died there 🥵 Everytime we come from hosting a tour there, we realise gore re baRisky and just how much God has protected us. But that is us, The Workshop Experiences, our mission is to take you to interesting places ✌🏽 Re tsamaya le Modimo everywhere we go. ‭‭

Jeremiah 9:23-24 NIV‬‬
[23] This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, [24] but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.

Recently, we were invited to exhibit at MEETINGS AFRICA 2024 at the Northern Cape Tourism stand for a full 3days and had the platform to present our business offering to hundreds of people. This tradeshow is all about business events, conferencing, incentive travel, team building activities and hosting business meetings in Africa.

We invited the world to come host their business events in the NC because we have the best and unique [large and small] conference centres and meeting spaces far away from the busyness of the cities, we have airports for easy accessibility, and excellent national roads leading to the province with the first nation - our dear Bushmen people - and home to the longest river in South Africa, the Orange River. We also met with Sis Vicky of Resemeletse Motlopi Coffee which is produced in Tsineng Village in Kuruman NC, we will travel with her coffee everywhere we go to give people this local taste.

We are your convenient event planners in the province that will have you mixing business with leisure experiences for utmost revitalisation. Contact us at [email protected] or send a Whatsapp on 0812892662 for your event needs and we will provide options on where to go as a company
