NEWSFLASH !!!
MEET OUR NEWEST ADDITION TO THE FAMILY AT MUGWENZI. A TINY BUSHBABY WAS BORN RECENTLY. WE ARE KEEPING OUR EYES PEELED HOPING MOM HAD TWINS OR POSSIBLY EVEN TRIPLETS.
Female lesser bushbabies, are remarkable mothers who diligently care for their tiny newborns. These diminutive infants, may arrive as singles, twins, or even triplets - a remarkable feat given their minuscule size. For the first few critical days of life, the mother keeps her precious offspring in constant physical contact, cradling them in her hands or gently grasping them with her mouth as the fragile babies cling tightly to her. This close, attentive care is essential, as the newborns are completely dependent on their mother's milk for sustenance during the initial six-week nursing period. Even as the growing youngsters gradually become more independent and able to feed themselves by around two months old, the mother still must work hard to transport them, walking slowly and awkwardly due to the extra weight.. The mother may sometimes opt to carry a single infant at a time, leaving the others safely behind in the nest - a strategy that likely helps conserve her energy as she juggles the demands of caring for her growing family.
With their tawny, golden coats and distinct markings, lions are perfectly adapted to camouflage themselves within the dense, woody brush and tall grasses of the African savanna.
As we stumbled upon the majestic eagle, it was clear this powerful bird of prey had recently enjoyed a successful hunt. Perched atop a tall tree branch, the eagle's sharp talons firmly grasped the remnants of its meal - what appeared to be the leg of a smaller bird, likely its latest catch.
You call it Africa. We call it home
The ground hornbill is a remarkable bird found exclusively within the African continent. The Southern ground hornbill is particularly captivating, with its distinctive black plumage, vibrant red wattle, and striking yellow eye. These birds are remarkably long-lived, with lifespans typically ranging from 50 to 60 years. Perhaps one of the most remarkable traits of the Southern ground hornbill, however, is its resonant call that can carry for distances up to 4 kilometers.
