New discovery!

Scientists have identified a tiny new species of chameleon in Madagascar's Ankanin’ny Nofy forest, roughly the size of the end joint of a human finger, around 33mm long.

Whilst not the world's smallest chameleon, Brookesia Nofy, is notable for its unique choice of habitat - it is the only mini-chameleon in Madagascar known to occur in littoral forests, one of the most threatened habitat types.

Researchers hope this discovery will highlight the urgent need to protect Madagascar's remaining littoral forests and their unique biodiversity.

Madagascar is home to over 101 species of lemurs, ranging in size from the pygmy lemur (just 25g!) to the Indri (9kg).

They are unique to the island and display a range of interesting behaviors from singing like a whale to sashaying across the sand like a ballet dancer.

The White Pearl Resorts in Ponta Mamoli, Mozambique, has begun a renovation project to revive, renew and revitalise the resort.

The majority of work will be completed during low-occupancy periods to minimise any guest disturbance, with the expected end date to be August next year.

"Our priority has always been to provide a uniquely luxurious and outstanding experience in one of the most exquisite coastal locations. This renovation is about preserving the essence of White Pearl while elevating it to new heights of excellence," said Florival Mucave, Chairman of White Pearl Resorts. ~> https://bit.ly/3yVSbWF

Tourvest Destination Management's IT Manager, Lee-Roy Van Louw, recently visited our Madagascar offices to handle some on-site IT migrations.

He had some wonderful feedback on his return 🥰

"Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by Hoby, the General Manager, and Kevin, our IT and Systems Specialist. Their hospitality set the tone for what would be an unforgettable experience in this incredible country.

Friday was spent at the office, where I encountered some of the friendliest and most accommodating staff you could ever hope to meet. Their warmth and eagerness to assist were truly remarkable, and I am most thankful for the wonderful time they gave me."

During his stay, the team gave him a tour around Antananarivo, visiting historic sites as well as experiencing the local cuisine and nightlife, and on their last night, prepared a home-cooked meal shared by all.

"Madagascar is a destination that offers a unique blend of cultural richness, natural beauty, and genuine hospitality." 💙
