What to Expect on your Safari Trip to Africa ... Most Common Animals
The most common animals that you'll most probably, surely get to see on your safari are these :

- Antelope: The Impala and Kudu - the most common population of wildlife,
- The Waterbuck, near a dam of water - always (this is why we call the waterbuck)
- A dazzle of Zebra, rare to find them isolated (because they always move in groups),
- An elephant (probably eating in the bush, crossing a road, or moving as a herd),
- Giraffe, them, and the bush are like one (they are always feeding)
- Warthogs (You can't do Africa, without getting to meet Phuma)
- Wildebeest (a great epitome of the great migration)

That if the climate change intensifies over the years - this might lead to the extinction of the yellow-Hornbill bird, our beloved and known to be : Zazu from the Lion King. 😰

A recent published study shows that if extreme temperatures continue and influences frequent droughts - these factors are pushing more bird species beyond their ability to cope due to a myriad of effects — or simply by being roasted alive ; one impending local extinction is that of the southern yellow-billed Hornbill.

Today's "SPOTLIGHT" goes to THIS LITTLE GUY.

Yes, just like everything else, the wildlife also has a hierarchy, so much so that we forget to highlight the many animal species that live and exist within the bush and Kruger Park itself - such as the Dwarf Mongoose.

The Dwarf Mongoose is the smallest of the mongoose family Herpestidae and their highly social, living in cohesive groups of 3 to 30 that collectively engage in cooperative breeding, territory defense, sentry duties to look out for predators, babysitting and grooming - (talk about family bonds). 🤗

Within each group there is a rigid hierarchy with a single breeding pair which is dominant and suppresses reproduction of all other group members. Dwarf mongooses are active during the day in relatively open habitats where they mainly feed on insects but are also known to prey on snakes, lizards and small mammals.

How often do we give the slot to birds 👀. Especially, such as this one 👉 Hamerkop.

Interesting facts about this ibis looking bird is that they often occupy well-defined territories. They rarely leave or migrate from their area of habitation and normally occur in pairs, as well as gather into groups not more than 10.

Like storks and herons, hamerkops are birds that forage for food in shallow water.
They feed mainly on frogs and fish 🐸 and may stir the water with their feet or flap their wings to startle their prey.

Hamerkops also feed during flight, gliding over open waters and dipping down to grab the fish as their meal. 😏

Without a doubt they are good hunters however, they often get robbed of their prey by bigger birds like the Fish Eagle... So in turn, they end up having to work twice as much to satisfy their appetite.
