Our Story
This beautiful rustic thatch timber holiday home is only 1.5 hours from Jo’burg on the Great Olifants River surrounded by mountains and in the bush. It can accommodate up to 10 people and consists of 2 well decorated private bedrooms with double/queen sized beds (can sleep 2 couples), a very large loft room that can sleep up to 6 people (most suitable for children), 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped self-catering kitchen with top of the range appliances, large comfy living area with huge flop down couches that opens onto very scenic decks and the outdoor entertainment area under a canopy of indigenous trees. The River House is situated on a very large property that is fully grassed and suitable for children's play and has 270 degree river frontage and the most beautiful views and look out spots. The entertainment area and garden lead onto a great access spot to the Great Olifants River where you can sunbathe, swim, tube, canoe, black bass and yellowfish fish, birdwatch and just soaking in the breathtaking surroundings. Other activities to look forward to include hiking on the famous Cycad Hiking Trail, enjoyment of our Lenatus cycads which are indigenous to the area, a small 4x4 route around the corner and the use of the facilities at the Olifants River Lodge which include restaurants and pubs, indoor heated pools and outdoor pools, paddleboating, horseriding, table tennis and more (Day visitor rates apply to the Olifants River Lodge).
Our rates are R2 200 per night over normal weekends and holidays and R2500 per night over long weekends and December until mid January. There is a minimum of a 2 night stay. We also cater for corporate letting at a cost of R18 900 per month.
