9. Enjoy the latest Art Exhibition in the KWV Gallery

KWV building opens with major art exhibition
From the Easter weekend onwards visitors and locals will be privileged to view the extensive collection of Philip Willem Badenhorst's recent works titled "Karelsfontein". After 43 years in Europe where his paintings were exhibited in major galleries all over the world, Badenhorst has returned to South Africa and now lives in Prins Albert.
Die titel "Karelsfontein" verwys na die werke van die skrywer Karel Schoeman vir wie Badenhorst 'n groot bewondering het. Van die titels van die skilderye is die plaasname wat in die Schoeman romans voorkom, veral die wat op "fontein" eindig. Dat hy graag water as element vir lewenskrag en hernuwing gebruik, is nie vreemd nie. Hy is gebore op 'n plaas in die Colesberg distrik en ken die Karoo waarvoor hy lief is in al sy fasette.
Visitors will also be able to marvel at the unique staircase sculpture created by another internationally famous South African sculptor Willie Bester. It is one of only 2 public staircases that Bester has designed and sculpted.
Then there is the Montagu Museum collection of oils and graphic works by Francois Krige, yet another famous South African artist who lived and worked in Montagu for many years. The museum collection portrays the wonderful diversity of his oeuvre.
Nog 'n toevoeging tot die fees van kuns is iets heel anders, maar net so waardevol - 'n omvattende uitstalling van die spotprentkuns van T.O. Honiball, die alombekende skepper van Kaspaas en kie.
The Long Street Gallery in the KWV building is open from Monday to Friday 10 am to 4 pm and also throughout the Easter weekend. Visitors R10 entry fee, locals and children free.
Masks are a must.
Maskers is verpligtend.
