Our Story

Déjá Vu Vintage House, housing vintage clothing shop extraordinaire, Déjá Vu Vintage Clothing and boutique venue, the Monroe Theatre in Mossel Bay, is a great find for all loving the style and ambiance of yesteryear. Since 2007, this delightful endeavour - housed in a quaint sandstone building circa 1902, has been under the management of the Carstens family. Here lovers of all things vintage will not only find an incomparable selection of vintage clothing and accessories, for sale and for hire, but also crockery, books, old photographs, post cards, photo frames, records, posters, memorabilia and the list goes on and on.

Here, you will an outfit for any occasion, whether it requires you to dressed up in period wear, according to a given theme or just look your “all done up best” - we will style you. Some of our outfits and accessories have literally traveled the world as rentals, or coveted items in vintage lovers’ wardrobes.

In our rental section, there is also a variety of children’s costumes of more than 250 outfits from flower girls to dinosaurs.

In your vintage shoot with us and we will create unforgettable memories. Photographers are welcome to book for a shoot at the venue or to select a rental outfits.

Our vintage high tea is a superb spread of dainty treats and exotic teas - ideal for birthdays, stork or kitchen teas - or for simply treating a friend or two. These are also presented as little ladies teas during which young ladies delight in their very own tea party - all dressed in ball gowns. At every high tea - our guests get to dress up in our vast selection of accessories.

The Monroe Theatre is currently the only registered movie theatre in Mossel Bay. In this venue, you will feel straight at home watching classic films on the big screen. Screenings are weekly on Thursdays and Fridays, however, if you want an exclusive experience with your besties - select your flick from our library and we cater especially for you.

At our weekly screenings, a light meal is served - reservations are essential. We also cater for vegans.

Our boutique theatre hosts regular cabaret performances and we have had some of the finest names in the business grace our stage.
