Crocodile seizing an opportunistic meal from outside the water after watching vultures land near the carcass. Taking it back to the water where it was joined by many more crocodiles. Considering crocodiles cannot chew, the death roll is used to tear pieces off of the animal. As you see here crocodiles will also lift their heads out of the water in order to swallow. The reason for this is because they have a special flap at the back of the throat called a palatal valve which prevents water from going down their throat when under water. In order for this valve to open they need to lift their heads out of the water when wanting to swallow their prey.

This lady was just not in a sharing mood! So she decided to take her spoils for a bath with her until she was ready to eat.
Hyenas are also known to cache their carcasses in water for safe keeping.

Not a post for everyone. I completely understand the fear for snakes as I used to have that fear. Not being able to breathe, shaking, crying and wanting to run a mile to get away whenever I saw a snake!! The fear was real! Until I educated myself and learnt more about these amazing reptiles. My fear subsided and turned to a healthy respect for them. Now I don't run or panic. I do appreciate them and what they do for us and our environment.
Helping to keep expanding populations of rodents infected with diseases like rabies down which could have disastrous affects on other animals and humans. To ensure stable ecosystem is maintained. Damage to crops and properties from pest animals is reduced!
This is a beautiful male boomslang (tree snake) easily identified by the bright green colour and large eye! This snake has a haemotoxic venom and a healthy distance should be given and not handled.

This new little babe having a suckle a mom.
Elephants are pregnant for 22 months. Babies will suckle from mom for 2 years but start eating vegetation from around 4 months. Some may even suckle up to the age of 10 years if mom allows it.

Most precious sighting! Although it was quite a distance away it allowed this mom and babe to interact in their own way in peace without any disturbance! Leopard cub sightings are very rare and far between and what a pleasure to share this moment with them.

What an incredible sighting. After getting a heads up from a friend @thomas_karst about a leopard, we responded to the sighting and sat waiting patiently for the leopard to step out of the bush.
Realising we were close to a warthogs den site excitement started to grow as the leopard put all his focus on that area.
Within seconds of the warthog lifting her head out of the hole the leopard burst into action and managed to grab hold of one of the youngsters.
I have waited close to 14yrs to see a leopard hunt from start to finish out in the open!! Hunts and kills are always mixed emotions as I love and appreciate all animals!
A sighting never to be forgotten.

From watching a Surprise catch from a ground hornbill plucking a snake out of its hole and fighting for its a life to a tawny eagle swooping down and grabbing the snake right off the ground. Absolute opportunistic steal!!
