These 3 boys are currently dominating the s28 and croc bridge area. Always exceptionally lucky finding these cats in the Kruger!

Spent a beautiful morning with the hippo pool pride. Not often you get to see the family interacting like this! Cubs being very playful with mom and dad/uncle while the other couple were sharing their honeymoon vibes with the rest of the family.

Lions on a buffalo kill on a recent safari.
Always exciting to be close to lions when they are "sharing" a meal. Tensions run high when trying to get a place at the dinner table. Lions tend to fight, bite and slap at each other to fight for the right to eat! The vocalising is absolutely incredible and the sound seems to vibrate straight through you!

Saddle-billed stork.
Can you tell the difference between male and female?
The tallest stork in the world mainly feeding on fish although it may also eat frogs and crabs in the water. Both parents play active roles in the uncubation and rearing of the hatchlings, having anywhere between 2-5 chicks in a clutch. Officially endangered in South Africa. This is mainly due to destruction of wetlands of urbanisation and deveploment!

Its all in the whiskers (Also known as Vibrissae) Which happen to be one of their most invaluable features. Each whisker is attached to a nerve cell which essentially acts as a motion sensor. Allowing the leopard to detect subtle vibrations and changes in air flow. Giving them as much information needed in their surroundings!

Beautiful sighting of lion cubs on a recent trip up to Satara.
Quite playful and patient waiting for mom to return.
Lion cubs are born with spots with help camouflage them by blending into their surroundings. They lose their spots around 3months old but can take a bit longer and even still be seen on adults.

This Grey headed bush shrike (also known as the ghost bird due to its mournful hooting call) taking advantage of an opportunistic meal found inbetween the foliage in the leaves but taking it into the thick branches where it can eat without disturbance. What a beautiful and exciting sighting this was. To realise the Hippo pool pride near crocodile bridge actually has 2 sets of cubs both moms with 3 new little ones! After spending some time with the 1st lot of cubs then coming across these 3 sweet things following mom just 500m away from each other! Always fantastic watching prides grow in numbers and strength. The famous dung beetle (coprophages - which means feces eater) Play a vital role in the ecosystem . Not only do they play a role in seed dispersal but also help aerate and fertilise soil. The removal of dung also helps minimizes flies! All dung beetles use dung as a food source as well as egg development! Competition sometimes can be tough as you see these beetles easily tossing away the competition and making off with already rolled balls! Even though there is more than enough! This was a pretty incredible sighting. While we were sitting with a pride of lions waiting for the little lion cubs to come out and play, chaos insued with an impala dashing across the road followed by a couple of wild dogs totally unaware of the lions. As the alpha female made an attempt to cross over the road she noticed the lions and alerted the rest of her pack by barking. I have only ever heard wild dogs bark in presence of lions, so to hear them bark is quite a rare thing! This sparked the attention of the lions who got up and did a bit of investigating. At the end if the sighting all got away without injury including the impala! Different predator species territories overlap with each other. Sometimes conflicts can end up in serious injuries or even death! These hyenas hanging around some lions on a zebra kill. Waiting for the lions to step away so they can come in for the scraps. Luckily making off with some left overs before being chased off again. Hyenas have a reputation of being scavengers but they do in actual fact hunt. And they hunt extremely well and often. Often having their own kills stolen by lions. Opportunists at its best! Our Story

Kerry's passion for Africa's wildlife and having the privilege of living on the border of Kruger National Park inspired her to become a Guide taking guests on Game Drives in the Kruger National Park. After qualifying in 2010, Kerry did some freelance guiding and first solo drive was when she was asked to cover for someone at short notice. With limited experience and feeling very nervous Kerry was thrown in at the deep end but this did not deter her and a few years later Kerry started up Kruger Pride Safaris. Her vision was to create a small business that put the customer first and provided the best experience for her guests. Kerry has fast gained the reputation as one of 'the top guides' in the area and her reviews are a testament to this.
