"We had a great time with Kruger Pride Safaris! Liz is fast in replying to any questions and her daughter Kerry, our guide and owner, is super knowledgeable in Kruger, many great stories, solid information about the wildlife and overall a super friendly person. We will 100% book again for our next visit and will recommend KPS to all our friends going that side! 10/10 recommend"

The MANE focus.
The mane of a male lion not only serves as defence from bites and blows from rival males but also serves as a visual signal of a lions dominance and health. Which may intimidate and ward off any rivals and attract the attention of the females.

King of the Boss.
In adult males the horns are joined in the middle by a hard sheild known as a "Boss" that covers the top of the head. This sheild helps protect the head when fighting with other males amd the horns are used as defence against predators!
Oxpeckers ..in this case a yellow billed oxpecker...are often found sitting on buffalos and feast on the ticks lice and other external parasites.

Trumpeter hornbill.
Hornbills have a very interesting nesting process. Nesting in holes in trees. The female enters the hole and is sealed in by the male. While sealed up she loses all her feathers which is used as a nest and to incubate the eggs. A small hole is left for the male to feed the female and chicks. Once her feathers have grown back, she breaks out and the hole is resealed again until the chicks are ready to leave the nest.

Flap neck chameleons eyes are located on cone shaped turrets which can move independently, allowing to look in 2 different directions at the same time keeping an eye out for prey. Once spotted its prey is caught with its empressively long tongue.

The rain bringing out not 1 , not 2 but 3 cheetah brothers on a recent wet day in safari. Spoils!
These 3 boys are currently dominating the s28 and croc bridge area. Always exceptionally lucky finding these cats in the Kruger!

Lions on a buffalo kill on a recent safari.
Always exciting to be close to lions when they are "sharing" a meal. Tensions run high when trying to get a place at the dinner table. Lions tend to fight, bite and slap at each other to fight for the right to eat! The vocalising is absolutely incredible and the sound seems to vibrate straight through you!

Saddle-billed stork.
Can you tell the difference between male and female?
The tallest stork in the world mainly feeding on fish although it may also eat frogs and crabs in the water. Both parents play active roles in the uncubation and rearing of the hatchlings, having anywhere between 2-5 chicks in a clutch. Officially endangered in South Africa. This is mainly due to destruction of wetlands of urbanisation and deveploment!

Its all in the whiskers (Also known as Vibrissae) Which happen to be one of their most invaluable features. Each whisker is attached to a nerve cell which essentially acts as a motion sensor. Allowing the leopard to detect subtle vibrations and changes in air flow. Giving them as much information needed in their surroundings!

Our Story

Kerry's passion for Africa's wildlife and having the privilege of living on the border of Kruger National Park inspired her to become a Guide taking guests on Game Drives in the Kruger National Park. After qualifying in 2010, Kerry did some freelance guiding and first solo drive was when she was asked to cover for someone at short notice. With limited experience and feeling very nervous Kerry was thrown in at the deep end but this did not deter her and a few years later Kerry started up Kruger Pride Safaris. Her vision was to create a small business that put the customer first and provided the best experience for her guests. Kerry has fast gained the reputation as one of 'the top guides' in the area and her reviews are a testament to this.

With our two very knowledgeable and experienced guides you will experience all that the Kruger National Park has to offer and make memories that will last a lifetime.
