Yesterday dear Zed, the original bookshop cat, passed at the age of 19. Until age slowed her down, she loved the shop and spent many hours amongst the books, on the couch or catching the afternoon sun that streams through the entrance doors. Despite her diminutive size, she held a big space and the hole she leaves behind is enormous.
She always put me in mind of this line from Shakespeare: 'Though she be but little, she is fierce'.
We miss you terribly, plucky one. And thank you for all the years we were able to spend with you. It was a privilege.

Hester Steynburg of Ganora Guest Farm has lovingly compiled an excellent colouring book filled with facts about the fossils of South Africa, many having roamed the Nieu Bethesda area millennia ago.
