Josh Trosvig was waiting for the tide to change when he spotted something that looked like a large tote bobbing on the surface of the water about 300 feet away. It turned out to be whales — but not just any whales.

Why is drone fishing considered unethical?
Drone fishing increases the amount of fishing gear that enters the water. If there is a tackle failure, fishing gear is lost at sea causing entanglements to other species.
Drone fishing landing rates also vary markedly, but most would agree that more fish are "lost" than landed.
This often leaves animals, specifically large sharks and stingrays, with big hooks embedded in their mouths and often hundreds of metres of strong line trailing them and endangering other marine life.
