A little gem - off the beaten track in Riebeeck Wes/Kasteel. For anyone that enjoys quaint little villages with beautiful art galleries, incredible wines and some romantic places to eat out, @merindolmanor should definitely be on your itinerary! Your host Vincent will spoil you to bits! He is also quite a wine connaisseur if you like some insiders tips on good wine estates to visit. Vincent invited us @marraswines for some beautiful real Italian food. We also did an exceptional winetasting @arbeidsgenotboerderywines, a real worthwhile visit. Jacu, the winemaker is definitely a good storyteller which makes the wines taste even better! 🤪 Last but not least we enjoyed a Gordon Blue meal @brasserieaubouchonrouge. The Chef and staff were EXCEPTIONLLY fabulous! I can definitely recommend the Steak Tartare and Mussels! Try something different if you like your wines, Riebeek has got it all 🍷♥️

Here is a little video of a 3 day/2 night getaway. We were @africangamelodge (very nice 3 star place) and @montecoprivategamereserve (5 star upmarket). After our post yesterday, a lot of you asked about the quality of the Safari. Safari in the Western Cape is always very different than at the Kruger National Park or other game reserves more up north. Currently, I would describe it as a “soft safari” however is gives you a really wonderful taste of the real thing and is definitely NOT “zoo like” At Mont Eco they do have Big 5. The landscapes are extremely breathtaking too. The whole fauna & flora of the Klein Karoo is very interesting too. Go with the right expectations and consider it for what it is AND to emphasise, it is definitely a wholesome experience which is absolutely worth the visit.

Mont Eco Game Reserve is a good 3 hours from Cape Town. It’s surrounded by the beautiful Cape Fold Mountains, not too far from the picturesque town of Montagu which is definitely also worth a visit. The lodge opened its doors to their first guests in March this year & BELAFRIQUE got the opportunity to test it out for ourselves earlier this week. We can highly recommend Mont Eco. The lodge is gorgeous and the team pampered us like Kings & queens. The landscapes are magnificent. We had a really amazing stay and can’t wait to book some of our guests into this lovely little paradise only a “throw stone” away from Cape Town”

A few years ago BELAFRIQUE got the opportunity to organise one of the most amazing trips. We had the honour to meet Archbishop Emirateus Desmond Tutu from up close. Such an amazing and inspiring man.
"A man of extraordinary intellect, integrity and invincibility against the forces of apartheid, he was also tender and vulnerable in his compassion for those who had suffered oppression and injustice"
Apart from the amazing work he did, I will personally never forget his incredible sense of humour. When one of our participants in the group asked what it takes to become a noble price winner, his answer was:
1. you must have an easy name
2. a big nose
3. and sexy legs...
Love and strength to all who loved him.

On this day, 3 years ago we went on a little office outing with the BELAFRIQUE team. Due to COVID some of these colleagues have now gone in different directions. However, when I look at all these pictures, I just feel friendship & gratitude for having (had & still have) these people in my life. Thank you so much to each and every one of you. We sure have had some good laughs, tears, heart attacks, moments of utter joy & bliss together...and I'm sure we have plenty more to come...
The tour we were on is called Kopano – (which means “Gathering” in Sotho) It is a fundraising initiative that the Franschhoek Hospitality Academy has developed to help raise funds to cover their operating costs as well as to provide a training platform for their students to practice what they have been taught. Every client that books with BELAFRIQUE contribute $15 to the Academy.
The Dining with Locals Experience runs on Mondays and Fridays, catering for up to 20 guests at a time. Tickets: R600 p/p
