The Savannah Africa Specialising in GAME DRIVES in our Nature Reserve on the Vaal River, 1-hour South of Jozi near Parys We are NOT for hunters or self-drives.

The 660ha single-enclosure game reserve is nestled in a 6km bend of the Vaal River, on the rim of the Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site. We maintain a balance of indigenous mammals like Buffalo, Sable, Eland, Giraffe, Kudu, Nyala, Impala, Waterbuck, Springbok, Blesbok, Zebra, Blue Wildebeest... We protect other naturally-occurring fauna and flora - all as Nature intended. The Savannah Africa was

founded 1in 1994 by Renee de Jong Hartslief to create a safe haven for indigenous wildlife species and an education facility for all cultures and generations. We do NOT operate the lodge or events company situated in our reserve.

𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪?
The Vredefort Dome (Crater) is not only the largest impact crater on Earth, but also the oldest! 2.02 billion years ago, a meteorite or asteroid that was 10 to 15 km in diameter crashed and it blasted out a crater 300 km wide.

Vredefort is one of the very few multiple-ringed impact craters on Earth and in our ENTIRE solar system that we know of!

Because of this impact, we have the Witwatersrand Rift, which is STILL one of the largest gold deposits on Earth. The Impact from the meteorite shifted material from the mantle upward. It is also likely WHY South Africa is so rich in minerals.

We were the first private nature reserve in the Free State to proactively protect our Rhinos from being poached, using Rhino Rescue Project's revolutionary horn toxin and dye infusion. Come learn all about it! Due to the spike in poaching incidents in the country and in the area, we recently relocated our Rhinos to a place of safety. The Savannah Africa was founded by Renee de Jong Hartslief to create a legacy for her children Cale and Tess, a safe haven for indigenous wildlife species, and an education facility for all cultures and generations. We are fully stocked with indigenous game such as Buffalo, Springbok, Giraffe, Impala, Kudu, Nyala, Waterbuck, Blue Wildebeest, Blesbok,and Sable Antelope.
