Our emissions are rising to deadly highs.

The IPCC 6th Assessment Report shows we have a brief and rapidly closing window to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions if we are to keep at or under 1.5c warming, which is the threshold that the Paris Agreement aspires to. The sad reality is that commitments thus far have not been enough.

Urgent action is required to deal with these increasing risks which include rising heat-waves, increased and .

What do you do if someone you know and love, or you yourself are personally affected by a disaster?

Most of us are not equipped to deal with something of this magnitude. WE FEEL HELPLESS. Most of you will know what I am talking about in light of the recent flooding experienced in KZN.

This begs the question… Could the outcome have been different if we reduced our footprint on nature? And how can we, as a society, and in our communities better prepare ourselves for an event like this?

What effect does have on tea growers?

Katharine Vincent was interviewed by SABC radio regarding an article written together with Neha Mittal and Andy Dougill in The Conversation, discussing the effects of climate change on tea production in Malawi and Kenya.

Tea producers in and are already witnessing a change in climate. and high temperatures threaten tea yields, national economies and the livelihoods of small scale . They have typically not found generic climate projections useful because these projections focus on changes in average conditions, when tea crop production is at the greatest risk of temperature extremes. An initiative under the Future Climate for Africa programme has attempted to change this by generating tailored projections that suit the particular information needs of farmers.

Are you worried that climate change might threaten your cup of tea? Comment down below
