Yesterday a small pod of Risso’s dolphins was driven into Taiji’s cove, and slaughtered.

It is heartbreaking to continually hear news like this during the 6-month long drive season, but it's important to keep in mind that these hunts are ultimately kept profitable by the global captivity industry (as dolphins that are live-captured sell to captive facilities for far greater amounts than slaughtered dolphins do for meat). Thanks to our ongoing efforts along with tireless work of grassroots activists all over the world, a growing number of places have banned the purchase of dolphins from Taiji, or have banned cetacean captivity altogether.

It's up to all of us to continue raising awareness and moving others to action. Let's continue to take action every day until the cove is always blue and every tank is empty: https://bit.ly/HelpJapansDolphins

We are said to report the second grind of the year has resulted in the death of over 100 pilot whales. The hunt took place last night on , the southern most of the Faroe Islands.
It's important to remember that modern Faroese communities are not even remotely reliant upon whale meat as a food source and are as far from a subsistence existence as any other modern European country. Growing evidence suggests meat from these hunts is often wasted, dumped at sea, or incinerated.

Update:
This weekend, an estimated 63 pilot whales were killed in Sandagerði, Faroe Islands, marking the first hunt of 2022.
While our work continues to change hearts and minds in the Faroes, we must let the Faroese Government know that we condemn these brutal hunts.

TAKE ACTION: Please join us and send a letter to the Faroese Government to express your opposition to the hunts and support the Faroese voices that are speaking out against the hunts. Go to: bit.ly/OPSAction
